I was seriously considering this before. I've lost a little interest.

Good eye. I have never noticed the accent line between the pipes. Makes it a little less bland down there.

No, the M235i is the ZF8 in sport trim. A great auto, but an auto none the less. Fortunately, there is a 6MT option.

Sounds like business as usual at BMW. Everyone needs to start accepting fake steering and fake driving. That's what the future is. Deal or buy a used, supremely better, car. Stop whining and look on the bright side. The best cars BMW makes are in the past and are already depreciated to market.

If there's a better driver's car than this in BMW's line-up, then we haven't yet driven it.

Increased weight
Soft chassis
"Reluctantly getting used to BMW EPS changes"

These are not good signs to start with! Hopefully we can get some explanations and/or more detailed reviews soon as the autocar review was +.

To put things into perspective, this is about 100 lbs heavier than an f30 328i. 100 lbs of blubber on a smaller frame and 2 less doors! And if you have a passenger riding with you in the M235i, it's a lot HEAVIER than a nicely equipped f30 335.

M235i - 3500 lbs
328i - 3406 lbs
335i - 3571 lbs

///Marketing at play again. I say we give them a hand, because these guys are pretty much geniuses. They are doing an excellent job at hyping up their products, and they do not have that much to work with. They have to get creative. The older generation of BMW marketers had it much easier. The cars pretty much sold themselves.

This is not to disprove you but, I don't think that's true at all from the older spy shot threads:
http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=928288

The reason I bring this up is I believe that the little detail and lip on the diffusor is so small and easily missed it will only look its 100% best in the very best of lighting and angles. The problem is, this diffusor's 100% best is just mediocre. Which means that 90% of the time it will look like pure, cheaply designed crap and 10% is will look a passable afterthought. That diffusor and rear is the weakest part of a gorgeous exterior design. Now this wouldn't be so bad if the whole design were such as it wouldn't stick out...

The rear end is so flat and uninspiring that it forces you to buy the performance diffusor and replace the thin spoiler with the performance one as well.

At this point I'm just wondering what mods are going to be available for the 228i engine, and how light I can get a manual 228i Msport stripped.

Wow, so if you have an F30 335i with the MPPK why change? i.e. weight should not be a motivation to move to an M235i. There are still other factors, like suspension, exhaust, suspension geometry etc, but weight is not much

I love how when the A45/CLA45 AMG came out, it was the darling of the automotive press with hardly any mention of this "off-boost gutlessness", but now that BMW has introduced the M235i, the Merc engine is gutless when off-boost.

The same was true of the 135i when it came out back in 2008. There were endless heralds of "is this the new 2002!?" Four years later and the 135i was a soft, fat pig.

It's so hard to find good, objective information about a car. I think that's why Chris Harris is so well respected. He can deliver the message about a car without going over the top. His comparison of the M135i and A45 AMG was my absolute favorite. He accurately communicates the strengths and weaknesses of each. I can't wait for him to get his hands on an M235i. I think we'll hear the truth at that point.

Is that some kind of new math?

3500 plus a 200 lb person equals 3700
3571 plus a 200 lb person equals 3751

Or does the 335 drive itself?

What's all the problem with weight. The m235i weighs the same as the old 1 series coupe and yet it's wider, longer and lower to the ground with more power.

Sounds fine to me
