Makes sense then. At least in my mind. The electronic trunk release won't open unless the car has been unlocked. (Not just the trunk)

Comfort Access works on the trunk with the car locked, but again, not if you lock the keys in the trunk.

I had just told my wife a week before you can't lock the keys in the car. The sensor for the trunk must be pointed away from the vehicle.

Yeah but for non CA users if you open the truck with the remote then close it again the trunk remains locked and won't open unless you hit the unlock button or the trunk release button. Heard a story some time ago with someone hitting the unlock button on their remote then placing a bag in the trunk with their key inside. Then got engaged in conversation and the car automatically locked the car because one of the doors (driver or passenger) were no opened.

Been playing around with the auto/start stop and anytime I have the car in park and ready state the car automatically turns off once the door is opened. Also, noticed if you are in Drive and turn the car off it automatically puts the car into park without hitting anything on the drive selector lever.

Try backing up with the door open, depending on the situation the car will automatically go into park.
You guys are right....I drove around the bock today with the key fob in the garage. I will never leave my car running/doors locked & go into a store again
