Ever since I sold it I've missed my E36 M3. I had a 335i but found that although it was fast, it drove "big" and even on the track it was a little bit boring. When I read the specs and reviews for the 228i I knew I needed to take a closer look. I ordered mine the same day that I took one out for a test drive. Still waiting .... it's now on a train somewhere on its way from the east coast.

Interesting thread... I really first because aware of (and interested in) the 2-series because I was a member of this forum's sister, 1addicts.com. I joined back in 2007 because I was interested in 1-series at the time. Even though I liked a lot of things about the 1er, I ended up not buying one. It was and is a great car, but I just never warmed up to the exterior styling. Even though I never bought a 1-series, I continued to check out the forum from time to time. When the first official photos and specs of the 2-seriers surfaced in late 2013, I liked what I saw.
When the glowing reviews and owner reports started piling up in early 2014, I became very interested. As evidenced in a post from March 2014, I described myself as "more tempted by the m235i than by any car than I can remember in a long time" (but not crazy about the color choices). http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=964592 Fast forward to January 2015... officially 'sold' after doing an extended test drive. Fast forward to now... picking up an Alpine White m235i in Munich in about a month. |

Honestly I wasn't even considering the 2 until I test drove one without any intent of doing so. I went to test a 335i xdrive with DHP, and on the showroom floor stood an m235i. A customer asked to test drive it, so I asked if I could have seconds on it and that was that. Also the many forum members who previously had m cars or high performance cars that dumped their cars for this, the many reviews on youtube in which so many stated the m4 was not 30k better then this car, and the constant comparisons to the e46 m3, were all factors in my decision. As I have driven a few m cars and know what they are capable of.

Had (well, still have, up for sale guys!) a MINI Cooper S Clubman / JCW ... and have been wanting to up the performance/luxury envelope some.
I had narrowed my choices mostly to: New Clubman in 2016 Upcoming X1 "3.5" model Current X1 (35i) M235 (why? I want the closest to M, but don't actually want an M! really!) And I have to say I did peek at: Macan Countryman JCW So, at the BMW/MINI Dealer, sat in an X1, like. Walked to see the Macan, did not like. Asked about new X1... find out the "35" isn't scheduled yet. Ask about an M235, turns out they have one I could drive around... and I buy their demo car |

1. I wanted to get back into a bmw
2. I needed a new car with a warranty 3. I missed my old E36 328i and E46 330ci 4. I always wanted to buy an E46 M3 first, E36 M3 second 5. The M235i struck me as a new (US-Spec) E36 M3 with E46 M3 power That pretty much sums it up

My first post! I have always wanted a BMW and my WRX was getting old (in mileage and wearing on me). So I wanted something more refined and a great highway cruiser since I drive A LOT. Did some research and fell in love with the 2 series. Ended up finding a CPO Elite 228i with a premium package from my local dealer with less than 5k miles and it was a great price. Now I own what I could have only dreamed of owning a couple years ago.

I had a deeply loved Mini R56 that I tracked and toured in. But...I wanted something just as fun with more refinement and more space for long trips. I was a stalker for a couple of years of the 2 Series. The 1 Series just didn't give me the that tingle. It seemed a bit of a little brute. I surfed net looking for 2 Series spy shots. It was the one. I started configuring mine the moment the site went live. I have an March 14 build and love it. It's my first BMW, but won't be my last.
