JB4 EWG wires install

So i installed the EWG wires onto my M235i, and a day later i was throwing codes saying EWG short and was stuck in limp mode. I unplugged the EWG cable and found out the wires had melted and fused together

So im wondering how have other people routed their wiring that have installed EWG wires and not have them melt ? any tips or advice how to protect them from heat

Thanks

Yep, the manifold is literally centimeters away from the EWG connector. You have to do some cable routing so that they don't end up resting on it and this happens.

I just looked at my install and it would appear the EWG wires are protected by the black plastic wire covers that are seen throughout your engine.

No issues with my install to report.

This should solve your problem!

Thanks for the responses. I'll defiantly have to be more mindful where the wires rest when i get a new set of wires in. I'll try looking for some of that wire covering to help

Just ran into the same problem. Didn't even think about this issue. Definitely some oversite on Burgers part as well. Would be useful to either wrap the wires or provide a clear warning for install. Sitting on the side of the road in the rain right now with melted EWG wires..

I zip tied mine away from the manifold and wrapped them in gold heat tape.

Smart
I'll have to do the same. Got a blade and split the wires apart again, wrapped them in electrical tape and I'm back on the road. I'll have to clean up my work later tonight. Where'd you get the gold tape? Oreilly/Autozone type of product?

I got it for free from a shop. They wanted me to test it on my intakes in my last car.

An autozone type of store probably carries something similar. I should probably check mine again and make sure the zip tie hasn't broken from the heat...
