M235xi 400hp+ 450tq+

Picked up 2015 235xi only has 7k miles, and I absolutely love the thing. I've had it for a little over a month, and even though its a really fun little car, I need to add more power. I want it to feel edgier, and my last car was a 996 turbo so I really miss having that extra power.

So far I've been looking at a Dinan stage 3 kit, but I've read some post saying its had some issues (not being as powerful seeming as its supposed to be), plus it seems expensive overall. I have CPO warranty, and I know modding may get rid of that, but I'm ready to risk that for some more performance.

TBH I'm a noob when it comes to modding, so I'm reaching out to see the setup you guys have that is producing 400hp+ and 450lb ft tq+. For exhaust I'm thinking fabspeed sport cat downpipe, and either the M performance exhaust or something a little more aggressive sounding. I'm also thinking about an injen cold air intake mainly for sound, but may go with dinan cold air intake just so I don't have to worry about a CEL. Also going to change to a high performance intercooler (comment below on opinions), and of course adding a tune which is what I really need help deciding on, because I'm looking to add a good amount of hp and tq. I don't want to go big single turbo because I like the power delivery the way it is right now with low end torque.

Future plans after getting to the power level I want is to work on suspension, tires, brakes, and handling mods, but I'll leave that for another post. So please help out, let me know the best way to add as much power as I can while still staying reliable (No CEL).

+2! BM3 AND FLASH

Check out my sig to see which brands I choose for bolt ons. All of them awesome but you have options. Wagner Evo 2 comp or perf intercooler, both same just comp is lighter I believe. Lots of great reviews on the VRSF intercooler. If your ok I highly recommend kitty less DP, vrsf or ER both solid choices. Def reccomend Dinan intake but plenty of options out there. I wouldnt think CEL should be issue as any turning platform getting you to you over 400 goal should be able to suppress the CEL as far as I know. Fueling, check out Fuel It!

If you can, wait till black Friday, will be lots of sales and you can get FBO and tune for killer prices. Def check out the member and vendor classifieds when ready to order parts. My experiences have been great in this community from everyone! Congratulations on your 2er!

Your car already makes an underrated ~355hp and ~380 ft/lbs stock (the motor is underrated). A downpipe and basic piggyback will get you into the 400hp and 430-450 ft/lb flywheel range.

OP, PS2 is a must for 400whp if you value the convenience of daily driver and do not want to mess up with meth injection and ethanol. You see details in my reply to your thread on m2 forum.

I have yet to find any N55 making 400whp with stock turbo on 93 on whatever tune, using below benchmarks (dynojet STD smoothing 5). Normally 375-380 best.

EWG:
335/445 280whp
135/235: 305whp

PWG, deduct 20whp

AWD, deduct 10whp

About a dozen n55's in my area are 395 - 405 on OEM turbo, 93 with maybe a splash of e85.

If you want Porsche (and more ) power on your M235i I would definately recommend a pure stage 2 turbo + the necessary mods. Check my signature on what my car has, it is now good for around 500 whp. I safely do 100-200 in around 7,5s (VBOX).

I don't believe it is possible to safely achieve 400 whp with the stock turbo on 93 pump. Maybe one run (still doubt it) to see what maximum peak power is possible, but not as daily. I myself went through all the steps of tuning on my M235i.

If you want around 380whp safely on 93 (and i think that is reasonable) you'll want to get a proper intercooler, downp, chargepipe, jb4 or bootmod3 tune. If you install a methkit on top of this i believe around 400whp is possible. That's my two cents...

You're some 15-20whp higher than normal baseline (EWG 235 FBO+stock map=315-320whp). Deduct that amount you're around 380whp which is dead right.

If you don't care about warranty, skip the Dinan.

I love my set up and it feels beastly.
