Help! I think the dealer put in wrong HVAC unit!

The AC in my 2015 M235i xDrive was not functioning properly, so I took it to the dealer. Upon picking it up today, first thing I noticed was the temp display for driver and passenger was different than when I dropped it off. I recall the orange dot version, but now it has the blue LED version. I could swear it was the orange one - the blue does not match anything else! Pic of the replaced unit attached. Pics from BMW website and elsewhere here inconclusive.

Am I wrong, or does my M235i have the HVAC display from a different model?

So did BMW change the entire lighting scheme in the 2016s to match the HVAC display? It just looks so out of place.

Dunno, but I am 100% sure that is a 2016 display. I saw one in a 2016 M235i xdrive in Pennsylvania. I started the car and it was the first thing I noticed (daytime).

You think the dealer assembles the cars like Ikea furniture?

The display is not blue, but white. The display switches from White to Amber automagically when the vehicle adapts to nighttime driving, matching the other instrumentation. Personally, I prefer the new display.

As do I, I think it is crisper and clearer.

Did they change other interior dashboard lighting in the 2016s? On its own, I don't disagree with you, it's just that it seems out of place with the rest of the lighting.

No sir. But recall our cars (15 included) display information in the MFD and Gauge Cluster with bright white lighting during the day, and amber at night. The only difference being the new HVAC controls mirror this rather than remaining amber at all times.

I'm having some trouble with my A/C in my '15 228i. May I please ask what issues you were having and if the new dash unit was the cure?

My A/C randomly comes on while driving and sometimes can't not be turned off even though I'm freezing to death. Dealer states this is normal as the climate control samples temp and humidity and if the climate control determines the air is too humid in the car, it'll switch on the A/C compressor to avoid the windows fogging (and most importantly saving BMW from a lawsuit from someone getting into an accident because they can't operate a climate control). I have to bump up the temp control to over 80 on the display (even in summer) to avoid pneumonia.

Was already built into late 2015 models. Mine is a May 2015 production car and has the new unit.

A coworker of mine just got an M235i convertible and his has this display. I assumed it was a 2016 but he said it's a 2015.

To ask the obvious question, does it work? The A/C, that is.

You got an upgrade! Awesome. My idrive got replaced recently, I was praying it would net me 4g but nope... Did cause me to lose my Sirius Xm trial though!

Wonder what it costs to replace that part to get the '16 color scheme, hmm
