Great negotiation process

I followed a car buying thread while back and someone posted a video with a link to a negotiation process. I used the following process outlined in the video on the last day of the month. I had to drive two hours to get the car but walked away with 12% off msrp on a 2016.

I will never go through the normal buying process again. I was in and out of the dealership in under an hour....If anyone is about to start the process, I recommend it 100%....

Presumably the car was on the dealer's lot to get that kind of deal or is it now on order and you'll see the car in 6 to 8 weeks?

Rizzo Method? I was a big fan of this method - unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for me, or perhaps it's the car or market.

I believe this method works best if it is a commodity vehicle (328i/320i, Camry, Accord, etc..) in a competitive market. I suppose it could also work it the buyer is indifferent on color, options, etc. for a more limited vehicle.

In my market (where there are four BMW dealers), it does not work. The dealers are glad to send the monthly email specials, but are unwilling to really negotiate too hard even in person. Even if I were to find a M235i locally that met my criteria, I'd have a dubious-at-best BATNA with limited leverage.

Fortunately I have a good relationship out of market - will probably just go that route.

I like the method though!

It's was on a convertible m235i in stock. I called five dealerships and two out of the five were 10% below msrp. When I called I let them know I had financing and insurance ready. My goal was to be in and out of the dealership within an hour of the store opening so they could make more sales the rest of the day.

I had worked with another dealership and negotiated to get down to 7%. I used this method was the same dealer and their offer was 9.5% off msrp with NO negotiation...

Crazy weather.

How much meat do you think you left on the bone for the dealer?
