Oh believe me I was laughing when I heard. I think it's more about Homeland Security than about expense. If his name wasn't on the manifest, he can't be brought ashore.

My CA called me this morning with no explanation other than maybe a recall on the diesel cars due to this whole software scam between VW and possibly BMW. I hope thats not the case. I like the sound of a stow away better.
As of 3:30 PM EST she's still anchored off the coast of the UK. I would guess if it were a recall they would have already returned to port to offload cars. Or... just not unloaded them in the USA. If it were a stowaway I could see (as a security precaution) not allowing them to make Port until a security sweep was completed. These ships carry a LOT of cars and trunks to hide in.

Just called the Genius. The Galveston Highway is still showing arrival in Charleston on 10/9. I think it goes to Baltimore first. That sets me up for my PCD slot, but it's close. They don't have any information on the reason for delay. The Performance Center staff are the ones who told me about the stowaway and it seems to be a likely scenario.

I'm feelin' you guys on this one, I'd probably be a little upset. K Line America has that ship and time is money. They have every motivation to get her moving.

Hey guys, I have a car on this ship as well. I'm going to try to contact them tomorrow to see what's going on.

This whole experience has been very frustrating. Car was originally set to hit Brunswick on the 30th : (

I'm already starting to look at other cars. The estimated shipping time can be anywhere from 7 to what like 14 days? Then possibly a week between being at port of entry, being hauled to the dealer and dealer prep. And thats if the ship set sail today. Apologies for the rant but I've never bought a car in this way and I don't think I will again. Im starting to get angry.
I share your frustration, but this is all part of ordering a car from overseas. If we didn't have access to all of the real time location data, we wouldn't even know about the delay.

Good news. I just looked this morning and the Galveston Highway is moving again. It's stated destination is Baltimore with an ETA of 10/6. That reconciles with the schedule on K Line's website. That puts it in Brunswick on 10/8 and Charleston on 10/9. Fingers crossed.

The ships here! Moored in Bayonne!
I live just 7 miles away, a 15 minute drive. Oh the irony!

Of course there's a hurricane. I mean why would anything on this journey go smoothly? For what it's worth, I got an ETA for the Galveston Highway from the K Line today. They really do answer the phone and answer questions. They currently have it arriving in Charleston on 10/9 after Baltimore and Brunswick. Finger are still crossed.

Just curious...does anyone know a ballpark number on how many cars one of these RO-RO carriers can hold? They look immense.

Just found that same article. The ship they feature can hold 5,500 but some others hold upwards of 8,000. I had no idea these ships were so big. Pretty cool.
