Galveston Highway

Well the M235 is finally on the water headed stateside. It's on the Galveston Highway. Should be on the ground 10/2 and then at the Performance Center shortly after. Anyone else with me?

I'm on the Eurasian Highway. Moored in Baltimore yesterday. Should be in Charleston in a few more days. The staff at the Performance Center offered to push my delivery date up from the 29th to 10.19-10.21, but my work schedule is next to impossible to change. I'm cool with the 29th though.

Gotta post some pictures of that white with orbit grey wheels once you get it. I have ED coming up for a mineral white, but I ended up not going with the orbit grey wheels, but was on the fence for a while.

I'm on the Carmen as well and going for PCD on 11/4. Oddly though the shipping manifest for my car says NY is the destination port. Probably just a mix up.

I would double check that with your Dealer... if WWL shows the port of discharge as NY, that's probably where it will go. PCD of 11/4 ?... you'll be waiting an additional month for your car

I'm sure this has been answered before, but is there a free way to track a ship when it is out of range of Marine Traffic's terrestrial GPS? Just curious. My car is on the Ro-Ro Galveston Highway. My OCD is showing.

You can try to sign up on some websites for the 14 day "Trial Period" with satellite updates. However, the companies screen you to see if you are a shipping or marine industry professional. The other way is to pay marinetraffic.com $15 for 30 days of one ship satellite tracking (with 12 hour updates).

Funny, I thought I was the only OCD in the crowd... starting to feel like a support group up in here.

I really wanted to go for the PCD and that was the first available date, so I'm fine with it. If I got the the car here, knowing my schedule I would hardly get to enjoy it. With PCD and then driving it all the way back up here I'll get some good time behind the wheel. I just wish my CA replies soon about the NY port mix up.

You never know, it may not be a mix up. It could be the way they process cars enroute to PCD. I'm crossing my fingers for you.

PS: I'm located in Brooklyn and will see the car carriers go by our pier.

OK this is strange. Just tracked the Galveston Highway and it actually looks like it is headed back to Southampton. It's traveling east up the English Channel as we speak and they were out of range in the open ocean for the last three days. Just called the Genius and whereas they don't have any information regarding the ship turning around, the ETA was moved back a week to 10/9 in Charleston. Anyone have any more data?

I concur based on Marine Traffic... my only guess is a low pressure system that appears to be in it's way for Sunday / Monday = sketchy weather.
She's also doing 19.3 knots which is fast for that type of ship.

Oh well...cutting it close for PCD. They like three weeks from the time the car hits Charleston before they deliver the car. If everything goes as planned now, that leaves 20 days. Blah.

CA says all is fine. I also got an email from PCD confirming my date.

I drive by Newark Seaport a few times a week so I'll definitely be seeing the ship when its here.

So this is the kind of thing that makes me laugh and cry at the same time. I called the Genius line later in the day just to ask if there was any indication as to what caused the ship to literally turn around mid-Ocean. It seems they discovered a stowaway mid-voyage and had to turn around and return him to his point of origin. You can't make this stuff up.

I've found that BMW usually works in logical and methodical ways. Dropping a car in NJ when it needs to be in SC (750 miles away) seems odd. There is probably a logistical system in place we don't know about. That being said, I would try to get a straight answer from my CA. You could also pose the question on the "ask a dealer" part of Bimmerfest. If I can catch my CA, I'll ask her for you...
