Dealers make a lot of profit or they wouldn't be pushing them.
If I didn't have Nav and the sensors etc, I wouldn't have gone for the platinum.
I never had the extended ones on my older cars either, but these are a different breed.

The same argument can be said of insurance, if you haven't had an accident in 30 years, it can seem like a waste, but you are basically buying breakdown insurance.

It just seems like an insane amount of money however they both quote me the same exact number and they said BMW warranty will not change in price from dealer to dealer, this is for the platinum coverage. Does anybody know if this amount seems normal or if there's a better way to get that warranty?
When I bought mine in 2014 it came with 50K/4 year warranty. During the last 4 years, the AC needs to be fixed every year, a few leaks and a limp mode. That could have cost me at least $6K without my warranty.

I did the same thing and went to BMW of El Cajon here in San Diego and got the same quote. Luckily, I searched USAA.com and found the Extended Vehicle Protection. I got 5 years up to 75K miles plus Free Battery Replacement for $2900. My Dinan 2 currently have 30K miles so I have an average of 9K miles per year left of peace of mind for the next 5 years.
