Mostly go between Sport in town and Comfort on the highway. Eco for long highway trips. Haven't really used Sport + yet.

Curious as to why people don't use sport+ much? Dealer told me it's literally the exact same thing as sport except with traction control relaxed

I use it almost all the time. Only time I don't is when roads are terrible, that's when I soften up the dampers.

That, and the accelerator pedal becomes a lot more sensitive to input. Less input required for higher rpms. Opposite occurs as you go sport, comfort, eco pro (lol at needing 1/2 throttle input to accel 5km/h in eco mode).

You answered your own question. Sport+ is the same as Sport but (according to the owner's manual) "the driver handles several of the stabilization tasks."

In other words, there's no reason to use Sport+ unless you want to go beyond the limits of where the car's stability/traction control would normally stop you from going.

Mostly sport+ because I like a little slip and can't stand DSC shutting down the throttle for no real reason. Comfort if I'm just feeling relaxed (rare) or with wife in the car, although I do some sport+ with her as well.

I don't like Eco pro, car feels like you are driving a Buick (boring). I would rather get less gas mileage than drive in it.

Comfort mode most of the time, unless I have some interesting roads then sport. Don't use the others really at all, just a couple times since owning the car to try them out.

Usually in comfort mode.
Does anyone occasionally move the shifter to the left for sports mode? How do you normally use this feature? For passing?

I use it in Comfort or DSC off mode when I need to maneuver through traffic and want no lag in power or for manual shifting. I flip it back when I'm just cruising along so that the transmission shifts into 8th gear.

Correct. It can help stop you from doing stupid sheit like this:

Sport+ before the engine starts. I must be doing something wrong though because even in plus I don't really kick the tail out much. Only time I can get a slide is around this one corner as I exit my neighborhood and if it has just rained. :/

The nannies are still really present in sport+. I used to be scared of it too, but after trying it for a bit I'd say that the major difference is that it would cut the throttle (and therefore wheel spin) when you launch from a standstill.

I'm just going by what the manual says. It says the driver handles several of the stabilization tasks, so I'm assuming that means the vehicle is not handling them, i.e. they're off. To your point, however, it doesn't say the driver handles ALL the stabilization tasks, so yes some of the safety features are still on.

I'm not afraid of it. I just said there's no reason to go into Sport+ unless you want to do stuff the car wouldn't let you do otherwise.

It stops the car from cutting throttle. Other than that I don't notice much of a difference.

Not sure I understand your point. Are you saying the owner's manual is wrong?

Just saying that the owner's manual is blowing things out of proportion. You have to really push it or have bad tires to notice a difference around corners.

I switch back and forth a lot. My default mode is Comfort, though I much prefer the steering in Sport. Also, I find on undulating pavement the Comfort suspension setting gets real bouncy. Just hate that. So I will quickly switch to Sport. I don't really like the suspension set up on the M235i. I don't think it's very refined.

I tried Eco mode a few times. Made the car feel like a cheap Budget rental car. Ick. I will just admit that I like to burn fossil fuel. But please, everyone, use Eco mode all the time. That way there will be more fuel for me!

LOL. This is what it's come to. We've been told by the automakers that we're not smart enough to control our own cars. I used to own a 1994 Z28 with no stability or traction control aids. Just ABS brakes. That car was making around 320hp/350tq with basic mods and I somehow lived after 5 years of driving including 4 winters on just all season rubber in a hilly town. My roommate at the time had a Mustang 5.0 notchback without even ABS and he too lived.

I've driven my M235 with DSC Off many times and it's quite easy to control and would be even easier to control with a true LSD. It's not like a 1980s 911 Turbo where it's goal is to kill you and anyone else within 50 feet of you. It's quite difficult to get this car out of control with DSC fully off unless perhaps you were being crazy in the wet or the cold/snow.
