Its not nessecarily about the extra 20 horse. Thats icing on the cake.

I just much prefer the stance and standard equipment of the GTS. I haven't done the comparison in a while but from what i remember the way i spec'd an S and the GTS they were very close in price.

As for the low profile tired low SUV. Well unless i am buying a half ton style i want my SUV to be as close to a car as possible. Just with a touch extra clearance for winter driving and space in the back.

I also consider the GLA45 to be a good alternative to get an idea of what I am looking at.

Drove a C450 the other day and the interior was beautiful (honestly Audi and MB do a much better job than BMW but I'm a sucker for them simplicity) and was unimpressed with the drive. Didn't do it for me at all...and the car was $61k lol

Not a fan and far too overpriced for what it is.

My lease is up next June 2017 so who knows what I'll be wanting but as of now, I'm all over the place from an SUV to a 2 seater coupe but here is my top 5 list which probably sounds crazy lol.....

1. Jaguar F-Type
2. Porsche Macan S
3. Jaguar F-Pace
4. Audi A6
5. Used Nissan GT-R
I like your style. The F Type is mouth watering...

I may just go Air Cooled 964 and be done with it. I told myself I'd do it after my E92 but fell in love with the M235 and quickly out of love with the repair bills...

I'm not a huge fan just think it would be a better DD at least in the Northeast than the 63. Would replace it w the GC on my list especially when the 440 comes out.

Ha nope - no more $ going into the M235. Too focused on next one. Maybe for dad or GF, I wouldn't drive one, but the new X1 they gave me was surprisingly nice. Not crazy expensive unless you go crazy w options.

I'm digging the X1.

Some guy locally has one lowered on coilovers with BBS CH's and it looks amazing. Looks like a wagon

That's exactly why I like it for dad. He has an Allroad now may get him either the new one of those when it comes in the fall, the V90 but that maybe too big, or the X1 if he can get in and out of it easily. Wants all the driver assist stuff you can get this time around - aka the "old guy" package. Would do some BBS rims as well - already have a set of SRs I may just throw on it.

After owning a few of the best hot hatches/coupes, I think it's time to move to something different.

Unfortunately, don't think I'll stay with the BMW family, great cars but with manufacturers lack of differentiations throughout the range, it's hard for me to justify getting a same era car.

So these are a few cars I'm looking at...

I'm really excited about the Alfa Romeo Giulia quadrifoglio!!!

Also very excited about the C63s Coupe!

Also thinking about a Porsche Boxster or Cayman. I really want the last of the NA engines, but will see what the new 2.5l turbo engine sounds, before deciding.
The Turbo sounds horrible on video hopefully it sounds better in person.

Pros:
Great looking
Interior is top notch, def step up in quality
Usable back seat w doors (gf is 5'9" had no problem getting in and out w heels on)
Hatch back w seats down makes it tremendously versatile to haul stuff around
Fast, handles well, excellent for highway cruising (felt more stable at speed than the 2)
Availability of track and M package def nice, both reasonably priced for what you get

Cons:
Cannot get track handling pack w/out active steering
Price starts to get up there when fully spec'd
Not quite as sharp or as quick as the 2, but more stable at speed - def "fast enough" though
Biggest gripe - wheel and tire options - want 18" w non-run flat and there's just one option that I didn't like when you select track and M. There are some nice looking wheels but 19" which I have no interest in and RFT- barf.

The 440 is just around the corner so I'd have trouble getting a 435 now. That said my dealer
Is on the lookout for an exec demo that would meet my needs. If I can pick one up for a decent discount I'll pull the trigger. Dad is also interested in one so maybe I'll get him one fully spec'd and take it in a year or two when he wants something new.

I think my biggest issue is that if I'm spending $60k on something I'd like to do so on something that's harder to get and more unusual. M2, RS3 etc. Maybe I'm being silly but
I feel like just being able to walk in and order one and have it in a few months isn't as satisfying as finding an allocation, fighting for the best deal, and having the hottest new thing that's hard to find.
All of that makes sense. Thanks for sharing your impressions. Honestly, I have no idea what my next car will be. Fortunately, I don't have to really start trying to figure it out for another 18 - 20 months. Who knows what my list will be at that time. It's fun to dream, though.

I'm picking up my M235i later this month at the Performance Center. I hope to keep the car for a while, but we'll see. My next vehicle purchase will probably be a sailboat. And yes I'm aware of the saying that the two best days in a sailboat's life are the first day when you buy it and the last day when you sell it. I guess that we'll see how that works out too.

I have a 2016 Camaro SS on the way. Couldn't resist M4 performance with better noise for $30,000 less.
