Heated Seats, Wheel...?

Quick question:

It seems as if the heated seats and steering wheel, regardless of driving mode, are much less intense than the E92.

Should I have this looked at the dealership? I have to keep the seats on the highest setting to to feel much of anything and the steering wheel becomes luke-warm at best.

Does that imply that outside temperature affects the intensity of the heating elements?

I did not have an E92, but I had the same thought about the seat as compared to my departed MB C Class when we had a cold snap last week. However, after a longer time, I found I did have to turn it down from three stripes to one. I concluded that there is an intentional or unintentional slower rise time of the heat to penetrate the cushion and leather trim, but after a somewhat longer time, it more than achieved the desired result. Haven't tried the wheel yet.

Even after 30 minutes of driving, I didn't notice much of a change...

Mine gets hot quickly and is quite noticeable. I'd have it looked at, seems to be something wrong with yours.

My E82 135's heated (leather sport) seats get hot fast and unless it is in the teens or lower farenheit, I can't keep it on 3 bars for more than a few minutes - it is just too hot. 2 bars is only good when very cold out. Most of the time, once it gets warmed up, 1 bar is more than plenty (for me). I didn't have the heated steering wheel, but my ex did on her 328 and it was nice to take the edge off, but it left cold spots on the wheel and wasn't exactly hot, but that's not necessarily bad.

I would say you have a problem with your seat heater. Outside of full-on winter, 3 bars should be virtually unbearable for any length of time.

My steering wheel and front seats heat up fast and stay warm unless manually adjusted

+1, with Dakota leather.

Adding to the pet peeves list, the heater starts at the highest temp and you have to punch it twice more to get to the lowest setting. I'm starting to think that the people complaining of the drive mode settings may have a point after all...

Mine gets pretty pretty fast. I feel it very quickly and even have to lower it somewhat cause of the heat.

Mines also, both steering wheel and seat, get pretty hot, fast.

The "real leather" in these cars is so processed, painted, and sealed that any breathing is pretty much a figment of your imagination.
