I bought it. I haven't used it at all at 11k miles so far. Oh, and I negotiated it down to $700 since it's a huge profit margin plan. So make them work with you on price and then consider it.

My dealer is charging 2700 for the insurance blaming there using a different company now...
On my F30 335 they asked 1000 I said no and in 2 years only had to replace one tire from a crater of a pot hole no bent or cracked rims All the stories of busted 235 rims is making me thing there just bad rims or very bad luck Last edited by 2013mingrey335i; 07-03-2015 at 03:02 PM.. |

$1,600 here, but I did not buy it. Have staggered PSS set-up though. Have not decided on winter set-up yet.

Afik, this tire/wheel protection is not universally offered with any other car maker. We all know the runflats are to blame. They sidewall bubble with moderate impact and are supposed to be scrapped after any puncture. I suppose there would be room for a spare if the battery was in the engine compartment.
If no one noticed, the 2016 x1 offers non runflats as a no cost option, and the spare for a reasonable $150. |

I'm still debating canceling mine. I know this thread is old but I just got my M235i xDrive a couple months ago and got the tire and wheel insurance. It has Pirelli P7 CINTURATO 225/40R18 ALL SEASON run-flat/18 x 7.5 wheels 18" double-spoke which is a real low sidewall. I knew it was cancellable (pro-rata) so wtf i got it. 5 years for $1700. I don't drive so much and do not run into many potholes. I know it can happen anywhere though. With one of my motorcycles I did not get the insurance and within 2 weeks I got a screw in a tubed rear tire but being a screw, the tire was no good also. I'm just afraid if I cancel I will bang wheels and get flats. lol. If anyone has some insight or even picks up this old thread I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thank you all-anyone?.

I've been debating this same question ever since I got my car about 4 months ago as well.
At first I was set on cancelling and I sent them the paperwork to which the salesman said he would forward it to finance and get it done. To no one's surprise, they later said if I wanted it done, I would have to go in and talk to the finance guy. I emailed him since I had emailed him other paperwork when purchasing the car, and I got no response. Went in for my first service and he wasn't in, GREAT... Now I kind of want to cancel it just so he doesn't get his commission on it. It's not important enough for me that I want to take the time out of my day and go duke it out in person though. |

I feel your frustration. I do like the business manager at my dealer and spoke with him today and he said no problem I just have to fill out a form and he will get me a check minus 2 months or so. Also, there is a $40 cancellation fee. I am still debating as I stated I am afraid that I will have problems as soon as I cancel. lol. It's about $28/month. I guess I'll still think about it. Thanks for your input and good luck with your decision.

I was offered a price of $1500 CAD for 48 months of tire protection in Canada (Toronto) and could be rolled into monthly payments if interested. I should be getting my car within the next 1-2 weeks depending on how quickly it gets on the rails from Halifax to Toronto. I TOO am still debating but I'm leaning against it. My wife's Countryman is in circa for 3.75 yrs now and only experienced 1 nail in her tire. My old Honda had 1 tire with a nail puncture in all it's 11 years that I've driven it. I replace tires when time is due anyway from wear-and-tear so I don't see the value from getting the protection.
If the fact that the low sidewalls are susceptible to damages easily then maybe? But I live and drive in an area with pretty good roads. I guess it's just the thought of tire insurance...but then again, the hassle on replacement from the dealership when it could be an easy plug? I can't decide!!!
