BMW build site

I can't get the BMW build site to work. Tried with Chrome and IE.
Maybe they are transitioning over the 2016 models.

Seems likely as you can't order a 2015 to even need a "build".

Could be the changeover, but it worked for me eventually. Just took a while to load.

Yes.
Just tried it this morning and it's working fine, and still have 2015 models.

C'mon BMW!
2016 orders are going in. The site should have been updated by now!

My sales guy has an allocation and wants to get me in asap to put the order together.

That is my understanding. I'm waiting for my dealer to get an allocation so I can order a 2016 for ED.

The car is no longer coming out of dealer allocation. They should be able to put in an order unless the ordering guide is not available yet in their system. I ordered a 2015 as soon as the ordering guides came out for them... this was for ED several months out.

My dealer's ready to put in the 2016 order, so it seems like nothing's in the way.

I spoke with BMWDavid on Monday and some of the info from the ordering/pricing guide was not matching up properly to what he was seeing on the system. Maybe this is the real reason why he asked me to wait a bit more.

I've contacted several dealers in the GA and SC areas and they are all saying ED comes out of dealer allocation. I don't know what the deal is as I've read several people such as yourself say it doesn't

Have you contacted Adrian Avila of BMW South Atlanta? You could also contact David Aviles at Steve Thomas BMW if you don't mind doing PCD after ED. David is willing to work with out of state customers.

Not sure what the situation is now, but when I got my car, they were handing out a handful of allocations for ED each month. These were not coming from the dealer pool. Don't see any reason why that would regress and have the car come out of dealer allocation again. Sounds like the people you've spoken with are mistaken. It happens... there aren't a ton of ED experts.

It's the last full week of June and still the USA build site is showing the 2015 model.
Orders for 2016 have already been submitted and builds start in early July.

BMW USA site needs to get on with updating their web site.
I'm headed in to order my 2016 M235i today. I have the options and pricing info from this site and others, but people who don't know of these sites won't know that build site is no longer correct on pricing nor options.

When the configurator switched over for the 2015 models last year, it happened on 7/7/14, per this thread.

So if history repeats itself, we have a couple weeks still until they update it.

Oh I'm sure it's coming.
But for those of us who have leases up towards end of July, August, or September this isn't good.
I need to order and 2016 orders started in early June with those builds starting in early July. But the 2016 build won't open until building has started.
Makes no sense.

There are manufacturer sites that one can chose to build a model year.
For example, Hyundai of all brands. BMW can't do a 2 model year build site?
Is that too much tech for such a high tech car company?

They needed to open the 2016 build when they started opening orders, which was early June. That's my opinion and stick to it.

Yeah, I agree. If they're not taking 2015 orders anymore, then the site needs to be doing 2016 builds. Period.

Interestingly, I just started a new thread about how the Destination and Handling charge on the USA configurator has gone up to $995. Not sure when that changed over, but it's an update to the configurator nonetheless (and not a good one). And in fact, the 2016 pricing guide lists 950 as the charge, not 995, so I have no idea what that's about. Good thing I already negotiated my 2016 out-the-door price using the 950 charge.

That destination upcharge is true.

I have my 2106 M235i build order right here and the destination is indeed
$995.
Training/service fee is $180.

Also, to get to invoice pricing you now subtract about 6.45% where it used to be around 7%.

The config I did has an MSRP of $47,070.
Invoice/wholesale is shown at $44,050, that includes the $180 training free.
Selling price +$500 = $44,545.

Wow. Now I'm even MORE happy I already negotiated an out-the-door price without all that new stuff. What's a "training fee" anyway?

I'll post my price breakdown when I get home tonight. It's an ED that's 500 over 2016 invoice, but now it's going to be more like 300 over invoice.

I was told that the training fee, whatever it is, isn't charged on ED vehicles.

Hm, interesting. If the fee is for the overview the CA is supposed to give you, then it makes sense they wouldn't charge it for ED orders since it's the guy in Germany that's doing it for you.

That said, if I'm right about what the training fee covers, I'd say that's a terrible, terrible money-grab by the dealer. That's previously just been part of what I would consider good customer service. Now they're charging for it? Outrageous. I'd say that I waive the "privilege" for training and attempt to save the $180.

"Training fee" has been in the BMW invoice for a long time now.
As much as people don't like it when doing an invoice deal, it is a legit part of BMW's invoice even to the dealer.

Anyone can negotiate any price that they can get, but if one negotiates an "invoice" deal or a +500 or +1000 over invoice deal, then the training fee will show on the actual invoice.
That of course is here in the US. For ED I have no experience and rely on those who have.
