Stuck cigarette lighter and dash rattle
I've had my M240i for almost a month now. Last week I inadvertently pushed in the cigarette lighter and whatever I do now I can't get it to pop back up to the regular position. I can remove it and put it back in the socket no problem but the inner piece remains depressed about 1cm from the top no matter what I do. Any ideas?
Also, I've already developed an annoying rattle in the dashboard piece directly on top of the instrument cluster (the hood). Is this the type of thing a dealer will look at?

The dealer should look at and handle any rattles. Regarding the cigarette lighter, if you're not a smoker, I'd ditch it. I replaced mine with a black low profile two slot USB charger which is quite handy at times. You could also get the BMW rechargeable flashlight or torch as our friends in GB call it, and put it there - also a very handy item.

Mine also gets stuck. It?s annoying at best. I don?t use it much but when I need it, I have to hassle with it.

You cant be serious can you? Lmfao! Have you taken it out and pushed it back up from the inside? (from the part that gets hot). Should pop it back up to be flush, then just gently re-insert it back in so that it doesn't get pushed in. |

If it were me I'd wait a bit on the rattles. My car has had a few various ones that have since disappeared on their own. I'd be super, super nervous about bringing it in for a dash rattle, especially one near the gauge cluster. Last thing I'd want is for them to start disassembling the dash, that's a sure fire way to get even more rattles once they put it all back together. But, that's just me.

Your car is obviously under warranty and things aren?t working properly. Why is this even a discussion? Take the damn thing to the dealer and let them handle it. That?s why you have a warranty.

Because if I can fix it myself that's much preferred to driving 1 hour to the dealer, getting a loaner (or waiting 1+ hour), and driving another hour back. That's minimum 3 hours, when it might take 5 minutes to do it myself. Some people have time to waste. Personally I don't.
