Thanks and I may mention it to them at my next oil change, but maybe not. I'm a bit worried about the dealer turning a very minor problem into a major one. Doesn't rattle a bit while driving, just when door is slammed shut. Close it gently and no rattle
If it is something like a wiring harness not being secured, you could be damaging wiring over time...food for thought at least.

I have a faint rattle emanating from my passenger side A-pillar or roofliner. This is my first BMW, how do dealerships handle creaks and rattles? In the past, the service department at my Subaru dealing didn't seem to be keen on chasing down my creeks and rattles in the vehicle... the worst part about being so OCD.

This is not a rattle but a screw or some object is rolling around inside the steering wheel of our new convertible. It's into the dealer Monday to get it sorted.

My dealer was great about handling the few rattles I had. I had them address them when I brought the car in for other reasons, not solely for rattles.

Both my BMW and Benz had a rattle. One day I realized that the rattles sounded the same. Turns out that the rattle was in my head.

My M235 have a rattle under the climate control unit covered by plastic parts where is not easily accessible. The rattling noise only comes up at highway speed on the slightly rough pavement. It gets louder and louder recently and I am going to bring it in. But I know it is always difficult for dealer to fix rattling problems. I have no idea how BMW dealers locate the precise location of rattling sound. I know my local Acura dealer uses stethoscope-like device (just like what doctors use).

To vent the build-quality complaint, the 2 and 3 series have too much plastic parts in the interior. My 528i has zero rattling problems despite being older and has much better build quality.

Now that I think about it, my sunroof has a rattle, too. It only rattles when the sun screen portion is open, so I tend to forget about. Thanks for the reminder!

I hear a knocking sound around the passenger door pillar when going around corners in a slalom kind of maneuver. I traced it to the seat belt buckle banging against the pillar. I solved the noise by tucking the seat belt between the rear seat and the wall of the car. Unfortunately each time I have a passenger use the seat belt the issue returns. I must not be the only one with this problem.

I have figured out the annoying rattle on my rear deck lid is the covers for the rear fold down seat latches, or was it for the baby seat mount? Anyways, there are 2 plastic covers on the rear deck, one on each side of the car. The drivers side one rattles, but not always..... if it heats up I think, it starts to rattle. I feel bad taking it in just for that, but oh well.

Thumbs up E84 X1- Rattle noise from rear passenger side LH

I have had a rattle / squeaking noise on my X1 for ages and it's got worse recently. I suspected the number plate mounting but found it still present after I emptied every thing from the boot (first aid kit, tool kit, hazard kit, boot liners, rear window shelves) until all that was left was the exposed battery. Test drove but noise still present.
I then lubricated the boot lock assembly / retention U bar and the boot lid rubber spacers with silicon spray. Test drove and BINGO no more noise.

I noticed a rattle in my M235 while driving in Europe for European Delivery. However, it turned out to be the suitcase in the back seat.

I have a rear rattle in the passenger right seatbelt/C-Pillar...

I booked it in with the dealer, technician came for a ride and identified the same problem, drove back to the dealership, and started discussing with the service guy, he then said BMW will charge a $275 diagnostic charge (1 hour) and extra costs to fix the problem plus labour.

Apparently there's a 1 year rattle warranty, after that they start charging the $275 diagnostic fee, plus other costs.

Anyways, anyone else have had similar problems?

No rattles in mine after almost 2 years and 7500 miles, so it's not all cars.

But I would heed Sportstick's advice and let your dealership fix it under warranty rather than you pulling stuff apart searching for it. One thing about rattles is that our ears can cannot always pinpoint the location.

I had a rattle in my '05 Mustang when it was new that I swore was coming from somewhere in the dash on the passenger side. A few months into ownership I replaced the speakers and when I pulled the door panel off the passenger side, I found that the source of the rattle was a plastic cover behind the inside door handle that was missing its double-sided tape to keep it from moving. Replaced the tape and the rattle was gone. Like I said, I would have sworn this noise was coming from somewhere in the dash.

I,had two. Both on the passenger side. One was where the window met the door. Being a vert there is always goung to be some kind of noice. They replaced some rubber and lubed the top seal. It's fine. The other is the rear headrest. It's loose. They attempted to fix it but it didn't work. I have an appointment Saturday and am asking they just replace it

I hear some rattles from somewhere near the passengers rear window and also had a clicking for just one day in the instrument cluster shade. Annoying but not enough to force me to go in.

I have a rattle from my exhaust. It is the stock exhaust and not the m performance. I haven't done a single mod, so I will be taking it in to see what's going on.
