The only way to settle this, or to have a hope to, is to use a common VIN decoder and post the results.

Listing "I have this, I have that, my tires are" isn't going to be overly productive.

Someone here (the OP?) needs to pick a VIN decoder.
People responding need to:

Go to and use that VIN decoder
Post the results.
Post if they have / do not have the 2nd radiator.

Otherwise, this is just going to be a whole bunch of interesting but not necessarily illuminating posts.

No. The Blow-By-Heater is a heated section to keep ice from forming in the PCV vent stream.

OK. I'm not familiar with VIN decoders. Do you have a recommendation, Zooks527?

I'm happy to compile VIN decoder package data to try to figure this out. (I'm an editor by trade, so it's in my wheelhouse). After a common decoder is settled upon, I'll set up the posting/submission parameters for those who participate.

FWIW my 2015 235 has both radiators. I'll post the full VIN decode once we agree on a decoder to use.

The only options I ordered were tech, heated seats, and enhanced bluetooth.

I like this one: http://www.bmwvin.com/ but there are lots of others if someone knows of a fault with it.

Most of the results come back in English, although it has a tendency to add spurious blank lines when copied, which is going to pad posts from it to double their length.

Since you would be doing the work to coallate it, I'd think you should look at the output you get from each and pick the one that works best for you.

Once you get a site / submission format tied down, you may wish to start a new thread for just posts in that format.

I've been led to believe that it is an engine oil cooler and only in the 6-speed cars. My 2015 M235i has one. I'm not speaking for the 228i.

We've already established that manual/auto transmission isn't a factor, in either model (228i, M235i). And the hose type and routing, in addition to the radiator's design (one word: fins), indicates that the second aux radiator is a coolant radiator.

I do not have my car on hand yet. However, according to VIN decoder my car is equipped with both hot and cold climate version (#823 and 842). It also is the #840 increases speed limiter version.

I would therefore expect it to arrive with aux cooler.

German1967: If you would, could you cut-and-paste the VIN decoder line (just that line, please) for package 0842 (the "cold climate" one you refer to above)? I'm not seeing that one in any of the decoder posts on this string so far.

The Canadian-spec, near-loaded M235i VIN info that's been posted has CWP elements (steering wheel heater, heated seats) standard, but no headlight washers -- plainly a cold-climate omission for Canadian F22s. And, get this: it does not have 0823 (Hot Climate Package) or 0842 (Cold Climate Package, supposedly). But it has both radiators.

Damn my head's beginning to spin. I'm probably gonna limit the sample to U.S.-spec cars once I crunch a few things tonight at home ...

FWIW, it has the radiators on both driver and passenger sides.
