Sold my M235...bought a 911 GTS

I wanted to stop in again and say thanks for the great forum. This place is fabulous and it gave me direction purchase my '16 M235 in the first place, then it helped me mod it, and eventually it helped me sell it. Congrats to F4113NBMW for the purchase. Have a great ride home, and enjoy it for years to come.
In case you're curious- I replaced it with a '15 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS! It's only been 100 miles so far but I've had a smile the entire time.
EDIT: one week update below on post 12 (with more pics)

Congrats and enjoy. At some point please come back and share your thoughts relative to the Carrera GTS vs the M235. Clearly they aren't in the same league from a performance or cost standpoint but it would still be fun to hear your thoughts.

Nice wash and detail at home today. After a week and 500 miles- just WOW. This thing is incredible. Obviously it’s another level- both luxury and performance. Going around corners is much like how I feel on my Aprilia Tuono Factory. Just sublime. Throw anything at it and it takes it in stride and asks for more. It’s a touch quicker than my M was straight-line. But here’s the kicker, it feels the same or even slower until you look at the speedo. 0-85 happens so fast and I’m in 3rd wanting to keep rowing up to 7. Interior fit and finish is great, feels more upscale than any BMW I’ve ever been in.

Following are the build sheet, a few pictures, and a link to my Google photos album with more pictures:

Wow, congrats! I did the exact opposite. My first sports car was a used 997.1 Carrera S, and today I drive a m240i. Both 6-speed manual and both excellent cars for different reasons! I hope to have another 911 one day parked next to the bimmer, but if I go down that road again, it will be a new one and it will be PDK so my wife can also enjoy driving it.

Have fun with that beauty and keep it safe!

Echo that. I always wondered how throttle response would be in a Porsche. I know that if you keep the rev's up they are fine and responsive, but was wondering if, like the Audi TT-S I test drove, the Porsche displays the same characteristics as the Audi did when "blipping" the throttle as you roll along.

Bimmer was way more responsive to my throttle input than the Audi was. Only way I could get the Audi to compare was manually shift down one gear.

The turbos in the BMW certainly make for more instantaneous throttle response than a non aspirated P car. Certainly, you can help that along with downshifting a 3 pedal or PDK equipped Porsche.

I refer to the Porsche as "relentless". I just continues to accelerate seamlessly. It does not throw you back in the seat like a turbocharged BMW or big block V-8. It pushes you back FIRMLY in your seat and never lets you back UP. There is plenty of "throttle response--its just very linear."

Its really not fair to compare a very quick, very sporty coupe to a tried and true sports car with many years of breeding and twice the price. Both great cars in their own way. I love my little pocket rocket but I would never give up my 911 ( even for a new one--I don't want elec. steering, PDK or too much GT car stuff. ).

I count myself as very lucky to have both.

Congrats to the owner of the GTS--gorgeous car.

My 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera S had a pretty darn snappy throttle response compared to what I've experienced in my m240i or my previous 2016 WRX (turbocharged 2.0L boxer 4 cyl). The turbocharged cars give you an earlier and harder push in the butt i.e. more low-end torque, but the thrust is not as instant and comes on more gradually as the turbo spools up. In a Porsche 911 Carrera with a naturally aspirated motor (pre-2017), especially when in Sport mode, the thing will just jerk your head back with even a light, feathery tap or blip of the throttle. So I'd say the Porsche has a more "instant," race car-like throttle response. I seriously can't imagine what the newest GT3 feels like to drive!

Oh man she's a beauty. My life plan is an M3 or 911 after my m240i, but it's gonna be like a decade.

Have fun!

Congrats and welcome to the family. I have a white '15 GTS but it's more of a comfort build than a "purist" build. But, there are so few of those NA GTS around that I couldn't really be too picky. Whenever I saw it come up for saw, I immediately traded in my '15 C4S to get it.

BTW, Rennlist is a much more active community across the board. You'll have fun over there.

i echo these comments.... na porsches have electric immediate throttle response...i have yet to drive a car that can match them in this area...the throttle lag in my 2015 c7 was one the biggest disaapointments of that car...
