B58 Injector broke during removal
Hello everyone,
I was doing a valve cover replacement on my 2017 m240xi. I was removing the injectors using the proper removal kit. I was being extremely careful and doing a 1/4 turn per injector at a time. Long story short they were in there so tight that what I believe is called the pressure pin snapped off on all three. Anyone have any tips for removing the broken injectors like this? I’ll attach images to try to make it clearer. Thanks in advance! |

Probably vise grips with a slide hammer attachment at this point.

I had the exact same issue…I had success getting them out. What worked for me was drilling and tapping through the injector for a 6-32 stainless steel pan head machine screw. You’ll want to tap your drilled hole to get about 9 threads in the injector. Take your time tapping going back and forth and not over applying pressure otherwise you can snap the tap in the injector.
I drilled through the top of the injector that broke off so the screw would slide through it. This will allow you to reattach the top of the injector to rest rest of its body and now use the special tool to attempt at removing the injector again. |
