[QUESTION]engine light comes on on ignition then goes off when engine starts

Normal - the engine symbol light checks a lot more systems then all the others

My car does the same thing and it is normal. If the check engine light stays off after startup you are good to go. If comes on when the car is running the PCM detected a fault. If it blinks while the car is running, you need to pull over and shut the car off.

It will remain on until you turn the engine on. This is normal

FYI: all cars do this to confirm that the check engine light itself is working. If this light does not come on when you get your car inspected, you will fail inspection.
