Yea looking forward to your feedback on this, as well. I've heard this can be a PITA and was advised to do the Pure Turbo Inlet at the same time since you'll be right there. I have had the PTI pipe for almost a year now, debating weather or not to install it, but I think I will once the VRSF turbo-to-inlet pipe gets released. That way I can do the DV+, PTI, and TIP..

Ill be sure to post after install haha. And i was thinking of the pure inlet but everyone told me its pointless on a stock turbo haha

There was a dyno posted in one of the JB4 threads showing some solid gains (3-5whp over the powerband) and a more consistent curve. It looks to clear up the "brick wall" effect when the boost fluctuates during/post boost spike, due to the choke effect that the factory snorkel style inlet pipe. I figured I'd do it along with the turbo-to-IC pipe as it all comes out and allows easy access. That and the DV+ are just a small cost add on, with some worthwhile gains so I figure having that side of the car apart I'd everything while I'm in there. Labor is more intensive than it should be, but BMW crammed a lot into that area making it a struggle. The 4cyl is probably a breeze..

Once the factory turbo pukes, I'll just replace it and do the PS2 setup. I'd have all of the supporting mods, less fuel system..

the inlet pipe does help. But its not worth the complete break down of the front bumper to get to it.

Is that what you have to do to get at it? I have had one sitting in my basement for 6 months now. I thought there was a diy that said you can do it without pulling anything out of the way.

I figured id buy this, and dv+ eventually, and maybe the ps2 install kit whenever I have a couple extra bucks laying around. That way when I go to get the ps2 I'm just buying the turbo.

The price of ps2 is very appealing, but when you start adding all of the other little bits and install the price climbs quickly. I'm trying to get all of that out of the way haha to justify it to myself more easy when the time comes haha.

I will probably just wait to do it all at once to save on install time.

Yea i have heard that its easier to pull the bumper but i may be wrong and there might be an easier way from underneath

This is the one I was referencing. I looked at doing it once, but I think I was doing another more important install at the time.

Let us know how dv+ install goes. I'd like to do all this before ps2 just so I'm ready when the time comes.

Another cheapish mod I was looking at to support ps2 would be the diff lockdown kit to prevent wheel hop

Had the pure inlet and DV+ installed last week, first job I didn't do myself. They had to pull the bumper, ER intercooler, and fan to get decent access. I haven't been able to log the car due to weather here, but it feels better/smoother.

It's about a 4 hour install but well worth it on a vehicle with over 35K miles, even on stock turbo. The stock DV starts to leak around that mileage and you lose performance and response. Most don't realize what they were missing as the losses feel very small overtime. It's only when you upgrade that you notice the difference.

I logged the car with the pure inlet and DV+, it seems the inlet hasn't affected the WGDC on BM3 as I hoped. However the car managed an additional 2lbs/min on the MAF from 39.5 peak to 41.4, so I think there is a measurable change. Everything else is essentially the same, although the ambient temperature is a bit lower, but intake temperatures are within a couple degrees F.
