Hello I have a bmw m235i and i am looking to make it louder. It is a lease so that means I cannot cut pipes etc. What could some of you recommend?

I'm in the same boat, you can either do catted downpipes or catless downpipes for more noise but requires a jb4 to remove check engine light.

or you can get a full cat back exhaust, which will not require cutting and won't throw a CEL

Look at at the BMW parts diagram above. Cut the muffler off at part #9 as per BMW repair manual directions for muffler replacement. Replace the muffler with what ever you want. When it is time to return the car purchase BMW part number 9 (Part Number: 18307560815) and put the original brand new muffler back on. You'll have all original BMW parts and there will not be any modification or repair not specified by BMW.

Fabspeed Sport Cat doesnt give CEL. talk to Mike, or Bobby from Fabspeed.

I also ordered the the muffler delete. you can easily pop your old one back on before the return. I am on a lease as well, though plan on keeping the car...

I think the sport Cat, and combo it with a nice intake and youll get much more sound.

Catless downpipes and or Exhaust such as muffler delete. Depends on how much you can tolerate in terms of loud and drone.

OEM M-Performance exhaust (i.e., muffler).

OEM BMW M2 lower airbox. It has a big cut out in it and creates a decent amount of induction and turbo noises, but isn't remotely as annoying in terms of volume as an aftermarket intake nor does it create CELs or drivability issues like so many aftermarket intakes do.

M2 intake is the whole assembly so v expensive than the functionally identical mppsk lower air box for airbox part [ie no lid], part no. 11122334344.

M2 part no 13717857606

Thnx, thats kind of what i found as well. So 11122334344 can replace our lower airbox..? After looking it shows that not fitting the M235i. Is this only due to it not being the actual production part for the M235i.? If i could snag one for closer to $150 i may pull the trigger ...

M2 exhausts are cheaper than MPE to begin with and starting to show up 2nd hand as those guys go aftermarket. Check with your SA but I'm 99% sure you could easily turn the car back in with that since it's an upgrade from stock.

Yes - I ran one of these on my m135i before going back to Oem and adding AFE scoop.

Yes, correct, never a factory fitted part for m235i.

2) M2 muffler

Resonator delete is cheap too $300 installed for the Dinan one. I'm planning to test fit one on my vert next time I take the car in.

My first recommendation would be to do our Sport Cat Downpipe first. Our downpipe provides a great bump in power and some great sound as well. From there, our Muffler Bypass Exhaust would take the car up another notch in the sound level. It is hands down my favorite setup for our cars, hence why I run that same setup on my M235i.

Off topic, but where do you find a repair manual? I cant find one for the life of me. Need to install a DP and this would be helpful. Thanks!

Pay your $30 and get the instructions directly from BMW at this website. If you don't want to do that, the Bentley 3 and 4 series 2012 thru 2015 repair manual should get you close enough.

Bump - how are people getting on with the M2 lower airbox mod? Worthwhile upgrade?

I would only be doing it for a bit more engine noise...
