M2 M PERFORMANCE exhaust on M235?

would the M2 MPE fit the m235?

we know the stock M2 back box fits as you can cut it on the same place as the OEM and MPE for the m235.

but what about the M2 MPE as it has extra pipes before they enter the back box muffler. does any one know the mid pipe diamters?

I think it would fit and you just have to cut the stock m235 mid pipe upstream of the resonator to remove it and slip on the M2 MPE. that's assuming the pipe diameter is the same.

if I get a spare £2k I'll give it a go.

I think one guy put the stock m2 exhaust on. If m2 Moe is a direct swap for an m2 then they should be the same. I believe it did fit, but you have to trim the diffuser to accommodate the quad tip.

Also if you want to save a couple bucks you could look at a stock m2 exhaust in the forums. I'm sure there will be guys swapping it off the m2 for something else and selling it dirt cheap on the forums.

I checked diameters on real oem and both are 80mm and it looks like the front and centre pipes are the same even though different part numbers, but that's expected.

so I really do think the M2 MPE would fit the m235i in the same way as the M2.

would just need a rear diffuser for the quad tips.

this would remove the centre pipe resonator like a mid pipe delete and give a muffler bypass as in effect with both valves open on the MPE the gas exhausts straight through the valved pipes and does t enter the muffler.

that's why the M2 with the MPE in track mode is so loud.

nice.

I am thinking of getting a M2 rear diffuser and mashing it into the stock m235 rear diffuser to accept the quad tips.

would need a good body shop to do this but I think it could be done.

then get the M2 MPE when I save some pounds £££$$$$

Why do you want the M2 MPE vs Stock ? there's no Performance gain just sound and a wireless controller for valves?

I knew the stock M2 back box had been fitted as I saw your posts.

But I couldn't find if the MPE had been fitted to the m235.

If I do the MPE then it removes the secondary muffler as negates the need for a mid pipe delete as such from Dinan or supersprint or fab speed etc.

And I get the option of valve control via Bluetooth for a good price compared to other systems.

Only thing will be to get a rear diffuser to accept the quad tips.

You could do QTP Valves or Convert to single tip . Dinnman may have a rear diffuser that works.

just an update here.

I've gone for super sprint front and mid pipes matched to the M2 stock back box.

will need to wait 3 weeks for install.

just thought the M2 MPE was too expensive for the 235.

I mated an M2 exhaust to my 235 and had to cut up the stock bumper valence for the quad tips. Wasn't ever able to find a valence that would work with the quad tips without massive modification

That's similar to the problem I ran into with putting an M2 exhaust and diffuser on my M235i. If the problem for you is only length of the pipe, that's easy to fix. For me, it was the angle at which the center section and muffler met. There is some difference somewhere, maybe "upstream" of the muffler, possibly in the mid or center section of the exhaust system? Or I guess it could be in the angle or curve of the pipe going into the muffler. My plan is to cut a narrow pie shaped wedge out of the pipe going into the muffler, get the angle correct and then weld it back together.

it's the angle not the length.

Interesting, mine is not off by that much, and it is the muffler that has to come up to meet the center section, which puts the exhaust tips at a slight downward angle. Did they come up with a solution? Could the center section be loosened and rotated a bit to get the angle closer? Or, what about a short corrugated or flexible section between the muffler and center section? Or cut out a short section on one side and have a piece custom bent to match them up.

angle out of the M2 back box is not the same as the m235i.

suggested to heat and bend it to align.

super sprint pipes are perfect though.

that's correct. angle too much.

if it moves up to align the pipes will be facing downwards and too low. if it's left as is the angle at the join with the mid pipe will be below the flat section / skid plates of the car and will catch on bumps or uneven roads.

Checking RealOEM, it seems like the turbo/exhaust manifold, the Catalytic converter, and the muffler hanging brackets are the same for the M2 and F22 models, at least for the US models, but the front section and center section of the exhaust system, as well as the muffler are different. So there must be a difference in the angles of the exhaust plumbing from the cat on back. Seems like a cut and re-weld, or heat and bend the inlet pipe on the muffler is the easiest fix. Let us know what you wind up doing.

suggestion is now to cut and weld.

I've got the car back on the road with the stock back box and super sprint pipes.

I can't really hear too much difference with doing the mid resonator delete.

can't be any difference as my wife never commemted on the sound
