I just did this last night.

MAKE SURE that your midpipe can line up and reach the bottom of the downpipe before you put the clamp around the top of the downpipe. It's a real pain to hold the downpipe at the top while also making sure the bottom lines up but it's better than having to do it all over like OP and myself did, especially since the top clamp is so hard to get back on.

Awesome sound & turbo noise! I wish I did it sooner... but I know my average MPG is going to go down because I can't stop stomping on it to hear it

Can anyone whose done this confirm that you reuse the weird looking gasket on the lower section of the cat. When. I pulled it off the OEM cat and put it on my ER cat it didn't seem to fit that well?

I recommend purchasing a new gasket and clamp for the exhaust side connection. They should run you about 45 dollars from a BMW dealer.

Do you have a part number by any chance or know the best way to find out a random part like that? Google didn't seem to be of much help.

going to attempt this weekend on my F30 335 with an AFE catted DP, hoping all goes well. Thanks to the OP for this informative post!

Does anyone have anything to add in regards to the above remark? Is it a necessity?

I did it without. Prob a total of 5 installs in and out for various reasons. The last time I did it I got a new gasket and clamp. It made the install easier to not have an exhaust leak. It is doable without, I would advise it though having done it many times.

Also don't slice you finger open on the gasket. The tabs are sharp and if you accidentally punch it it doesn't feel good.

Can't believe this. We're stuck on the o2 sensor. That thing is not budging. The Downpipe is basically free (forgot to remove the o2 sensor when starting)

This was actually super easy but now have bigger problems. See below

It will fit, you just need to turn in the clam around it, and the teeth will stick in... sort of speak.

But the upper v-clamp is impossible for me. Going for a new bolt tomorrow and just tighten it up untill it squezes into place. Its impossible otherwise.!

I recommend this! Bought an ebay decat ( really good quality) for 200 euro including shipping cost.
1,5-2h, pretty easy. The upper clamp was a pain in the ***, but possible. My friend pushed the rear muffler forward and then I mounted the lower clamp.
Driven the car for four days without CEL so far... (?)
Will get a remap next week.

The turbo noise is much louder now and also the pops and bangs, and it΄s still stock boost pressure. ( decat and remus axle-back)

I just installed a Fabspeed DP on my Xdrive and it wasn’t terrible on jackstands. The most difficult part was getting the vband back on the turbo because of the lack of room. It helped getting the DP in place and tightening up the tranny to DP bracket and then maneuvering the vband.
Switched the JB4 to Map 5 and the car seems to accelerate much smoother, especially on the bottom end.

Are there any issues with just running with the CEL light. Will the car try to compensate for the oxygen misreads?

Assuming the code is just for being catless, no issues. That code just means your catalytic converter (if it were installed) is not in spec.
