LSD and M brakes custom exhaust
Gents,
My M235 is in production and my dealer ordered both the LSD and M brakes. Are these both dealer installed rather than port? Secondly you guys think the brakes are worth the cost? Seems like it to me rather than go after market later. Also, I've got a local shop that can fabricate a custom exhaust. They did a nice job on my M6. My question to ya'll is if I have them chop off the resonator's all the way back and produce a very minimal racing muffler and maybe 3-4 inch pipes or as big as I can fit. Will this help the turbo engine breath better and reduce back pressure which if I'm correct is the enemy of a turbo'ed engine?... Thanks for your thoughts. |

I'd appreciate any information on the LSD. My dealer has no information and I certainly cannot currently order it. OP, how were you able to order an LSD?

He didn't have a price on LSD yet, but it's a must have for me. You guy think my exhaust mods will help the engine breath better and thus squeeze some extra HP?

I think they just said that to make you happy cause they can't order any LSD.... let alone have it port installed
Eventually you should be able to do dealer or port installed ....that is if the parts are available before the car gets to the port :-)... I would strongly recommend to get it port installed... you don't want the dealer to install their first LSD on your car... they might put it backwards.... while at the VDC they will do a lot of installs You touch the exhaust and dealer might give you a hard time with warranty if anything happens Last edited by pikcachu; 03-08-2014 at 01:09 AM.. |

I also agree the upgraded brakes are overkill for most people. If you believe Motortrend, I believe they had the "standard" brakes and said, "Braking performance is improved too, with a best stop of 103 feet from 60 mph (better than the 1M by 2 feet)." C7 is 93 feet, S4 is 107 feet, by comparison.
We see the LSD option code on ordering the cars but isn't available yet. I'll chime in if any come through that have it.

LSD is available as a port installed accessory. $3615 installed MSRP Port installed can be residualized! Goes right into the MSRP. 0Z7A is the option, can be added up until it arrives at the VPC. |

I hope those prices are installed prices direct from dealer, because almost every option on there either I've seen online or at my local dealer are higher. So it must be with install figured into the price.

The reason for the upgraded brakes is to have greater thermal limits which allows repeated threshold braking when lapping a road course.

It may be the sticker shock from previously shopping 911s, but honestly $3650 for a factory lsd sounds about ballpark; it just seems a bit harsh given that it's so high relative to the cost of the car...
