Considering CPO M235i 2015 or 2014
I am considering moving from my 2011 335is to a CPO M235. I really prefer the looks of the 4 series to the 2 but miss the size of my E36 and E46.
I see a lot more 2015 M235s out there vs 2014. I can find a lot of CPO 2015 with under 10k miles, tech package, winter package, and HK stereo for 40-42 asking price. Similar 2014's with same options and 10-15k miles are 38-40k asking but there are a lot less of them. Most of the 14s have the regular CPO certification (which I prefer for the extra year warranty) while the 15s are mostly all CPO elite. Is there any reason to go with a 2015 vs a 2014? The transferable free maintenance on the 2014 is nice. However, I am not sure if there are any other differences that would push me toward one model year or the other. Thanks for any help! |

Check w your dealer but if the maintenance is indeed transferable on a 2014 you may also be able to buy the extended maintenance package which would be nice. Once you're out of coverage you cannot get it back.

The differences between 2014 and 2015 are so minor that that alone shouldn't discourage you from one. As far as I know its only some minor trim color pieces surrounding the central vents, the removal of the badging on the fenders on the 2015, and the color of the climate control when it lights up is different.
Probably not too many 2014 out there since they didn't sell 2014 models for very long. They went on sale in March and by August the 2015 were out. |

The bluetooth music and I believe there was an issue of not being able to select how you want the sport button set up. Either with steering and chassis or just one.

I just did this exercise and ended up getting a 2015 with ~4k Miles. It's currently being shipped over from Cali.
From my conversations with various BMW dealers, if you buy from a BMW dealer, they can transfer over the maintenance to the 2nd owner. They said it usually costs like $300, but if you could get that waived. If you buy from a non BMW dealer, then the maintenance won't transfer over. The 2014 models are slightly cheaper but have slightly higher mileage. However, if you add in the warranty to make the warranties the similar, the prices are about the same. |

I recently picked up a pristine 15k mile 2014 CPO M235i with every option save the Helen Keller(Driver Assistance) Package for $37,500. I could not be more pleased.

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it. Regarding the maintenance, it says on BMW's website http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...eoverride=true
"...For model year 2015 or later vehicles sold or leased by an authorized BMW center on or after July 1, 2014, BMW Maintenance Program coverage is provided for the exclusive benefit of the initial purchaser, owner, or lessee of a new vehicle, sales demonstrator vehicle, Aftersales Mobility Program (AMP) vehicle, or BMW Group company vehicle from an authorized BMW center in the United States (including Puerto Rico). Accordingly, BMW Maintenance Program coverage, with one exception, is not transferable to subsequent purchasers, owners, or lessees..." Which stinks as I have gotten used to the free maintenance on my 335, even though it is limited compared to what should be done. But it looks like I could transfer the warranty on a 2014, there are just so few of them. |

You should talk with your dealer about that (assuming BMW). They said that they can transfer it for like $300. If you have a low milage car, it'd be worth it. I talked with one dealer about putting that into the price of the car, which they eventually did. However, I ended up getting my car from another dealer in Cali and having it shipped over.
The car I bought was an executive demo, which is being sold to me "like new", so the maintenance comes with it. Quote:
