I just put the MPPK lower airbox on yesterday and today I get the check engine light. Any body have any ideas?

Not to be a complete @$$, but did you disconnect the battery before install? Did you clean the MAF sensor (not sure if that's a thing with the N55, but it was on my previous DI Turbo-engined car)?

I didn't disconnect battery. I waited till it went to sleep. I talked to Brian @ SMC and he said the tech told him it will do that if you are not running a tune. Im getting ready to run to SMC and return it. The tech said the CEL will eventually turn itself off while running the stock airbox.

Damn...I'd return it, too. Hate the CEL!

I'm at the dealership and they are having a hard time with the CEL. Maybe it wasn't the airbox. Brian gave me a refund for the airbox.

Is the lower anything more than a piece of plastic? Are there any sensors in it? What did the dealership say caused the CEL?

Its just a airbox with less restrictions and another hole on the headlight side. It doesn't have sensors. It just draws more air. I put everything back to stock. They had no clue what caused it.

Forgive my ignorance here but what is the difference between the MPPK and M2 lower airbox? Do they both work in our cars?

I believe its the exact same lower airbox. I don't understand how people are running cold air intakes and not getting a CEL when I get one within 15 miles with the MPPK.

MPPK and M2 are the same. Different than M235. I would guess you didn't seat the sensor properly or jostled something loose when you swapped.

There is no sensor to seat. You just swap out lowers. The BMW techs said that it will throw A CEL without a tune.

I've been running the MPPK airbox in my 2016 M235 for over a year now. No CELs.

I have a Dinan intake with MPPK lower case. I did get a cel once. I just reset it using an obd2 scanner. I haven't gotten it again for over 3 months now.
