Best air intake for the M235

Anyone have an recommendation on a cold air intake? The Dinan CF looks nice, but I wonder if the increased price has real value?

Best in terms of what?

If you are looking for sound, BMS / Injen sound the best in my opinion

I'm doing the same search right now as I write this. Just picked up my M235i and looking to add an intake or drop in filter. Don't know about Robman23 but I'm more concerned about adding some additional intake/turbo noise. I'm interested in everyone's opinions.

Tons of posts already on this topic.
The Gruppe M and Dinan are really nice but expensive.

Yea I've spent all afternoon searching the forum haha. Ended up with the Injen as I'm really just looking for more noise and don't fee like paying for the CF look when I'll very rarely be opening the hood.

If you're looking for power increase don't waste your money. The stock works just fine.

After installing the Dinan intake, it has more turbo sounds and felt like it gained a little more power.

I don't have a dyno run to show any numbers, but I assure you it did something.

If you feel it doesn't do anything than thats your opinion and thats fine too.

BMS Intake sounds amazing and doesn't break the bank. Great quality, I have had no problems with it and I've had it for a while now. The car feels faster and sounds way better now

Dyno figure have shown that intakes do in fact add power on a tuned car.
5-10 whp after 5000 rpm

Since this increase is not felt by the butt-dyno, most assume an intake does not add anything

+1 for the BMS intake, it is our most popular option

It's really personal preference of sound look and performance.

Injen is probably our biggest seller and BMS. AFE is good too just a little more expensive.

Will a BMS intake cause issues on stock tune?

And will it cause issues for warranty (I know they can't void a warranty for your whole car based on the intake, but what if I need a new O2 sensor or something)?

As long as your problem is not related to the intake, warranty should be intact

AFE drop in is the version I used - increased airflow and (butt) power, without too much increase in noise. Unlike the conicals, the drop in square does increase some noise in sport / sport +, and the blow off is slightly more noticeable. But in comfort and Eco, its quiet enough without sounding fast/furious tuned.

I tried a few intakes and filter as well. None gave any gain not on dyno and not on my 60-130 pbox testing. They just add sound.

I am now running stock intake, stock filter but with another hole in the bottom part of the airbox. (similar like the M2 has). Seems to work fine. Even at 540whp an intake on my car adds 0 whp.
