What's beside the maf?

I bought a hit m235i and it's missing the intake and maf. On pictures I notice that the intake has a hose sticking out from the intake right beside the maf sensor. What is that? I do not see that hose in my engine bay.

If I'm not mistaken I believe its correlated with the Automatic transmission. Can anyone confirm or elaborate upon this?

That vacuum line is not there on manual transmission cars.

Ahh got it, so if I buy an aftermarket intake , do I have a choice ? Or is that opening there all the time? If so, do I close it?

Most of the aftermarket intakes I've seen have a nipple to accept that vacuum line but you would just cap it since you don't have the line. The BMS intake comes with a little rubber sleeve to put over it and I'm sure the others do also.

Some manufacturers offer 2 different versions of intakes ( auto and manual). Other have 1 version that fits all.
If you are planning on making a purchase, i recommend contacting your vendor first
