Definitely thought about it, but parts will kill you.
A replacement set of tires can run you close to 2 grand.

How important is a warranty? That Porsche at that age will start to cost an arm and a leg. Are you maxing out your budget at $50k with nothing left for incidentals, or can you spend $50k on a car and be well under your budget with plenty for repairs and maintenance?

If you can spend $50k and be well under budget you wouldn't be looking at an m235i I guess.
I looked at a cayman vs m235 but a 997 would have been too old vs a brand new car with warranty |

Yeah go for the M235i for peace of mind.
Why not check out the cayman if you're interested in Porsche? |

The P-Car is great but I really don't like it for daily driving. That said it's and AWESOME driver's car, that's for sure. I'm looking to sell mine and get into an M4 or M235... still can't decide. If you do go the 997 route, just get one from Carmax with the extended warranty and you'll be good to go. Mine has paid for itself 2-3x over by now.

Not unless it was CPOd and carried an extended warranty. Just like I won't be keeping my 335 after 50k miles. It has 40k miles on it now.
I'm actually kicking around trading my 335 towards a newer 911 for the wife, then driving her Z4 35is for several months while new 235i owners and S550 mustang owners figure out the bugs. Then turn the Z4 into a 235i or mustang.

For me, new over used all the time. If I can't afford it new, I can't afford it. But that's just me.
Unless they don't make it any more and I 'gotta have it.' Last edited by m981addicts; 12-31-2013 at 09:44 AM.. |

I was just in Cuba and seeing all of the 40s, 50s and 60s cars everywhere (a lot in great shape to) changed my thinking on the need for the brand new ride.
The 235 will deprecitate by what $500 more per month than the 911. |

Depends on your priority. Get what makes you happy when driving it.
I've had a bunch of late model 911's and BMWs and no issues to either. While the M235 is a nice car, personally I'd pick a 997.1 over M235i any day. My old lady drives a '11 M3 vert and it's nice. I drive 997.2 C4S as my daily...pure joy. |
