Not trying to bash the M235i because I have one on order. I know it's going to be a fantastic car, but if I could afford an M3, I would be all over it. Not only does it have more leg room but it's going to have a substantial performance advantage over the M235i, from what I can see so far.

I just don't see the logic in your statement, sorry
Really? I don't see why it's hard to understand. If I live in a $250k house, but I can afford a $500k house. It means I choose to spend less money on a house. I prioritize my money differently. A doctor with an income of $400k/year drives a 4cyl Accord sedan. Does that mean he can't afford the 6 cyl version? It's quite silly.

Correct! We have a few more on the way, too.

In addition to our M235i, we also have a 228i (kind of shown in the picture above).

www.Instagram.com/BMWPortland for more pictures.

The M235i still has the shipping spacers installed in these pictures.

Comparing to our 128i.

Dammit, that doctor better buy a boat, a Gulfstream time share and at least a LaFerrari, 918 AND P1 before socialized medicine makes that Accord seem fancy!

hmm, yeah, not feeling them...just don't think it's necessary. it's almost as if they didn't want to make them aluminum like Audi's so ended up with silver. it just looks out of place.

It would be nice if you didn't spread mis-information. As of January 9th, all parts that are port installed are fully residualized....

How is seating position great and then a con? Bmw really needs to get rid of this high seating position imo. I guess for the masses its great visibility. For us, it just plain old sucks.

Are you also saying that its impossible to skid on the pss?!

235 Manual trans

Great stuff here, I am very close to ordering one myself. I am torn between the 228 and the 335 but hoping to test drive them within the next week or two. One thing that will be difficult to test is a manual tranny. I know they are not as fast or efficient, but they are for the most part so much more enjoyable and that weighs more to me than 0-60 times. I have been an Audi guy in the past, currently driving a 2011 A5 with a 6 speed. I love how that car shifts and the only experience I have had with a BMW was a 2009 M Coupe my brother owned. The 6 speed on that vehicle seemed rough, clunky, slow, and required effort to pull through the gates. Hoping that was the exception and not the rule with BMW manual transmissions?

The seating position is great because you can adjust it so that you feel comfortable with the rest of the your surrounding.

The CON regarding the seating position has nothing to do with adjustability or position relationship. It just that you sit higher, or this car sits higher, or it feels like you're sitting higher, than in a 3/4 series.

The Michelin super sports are amazing I'm not saying it's impossible to slide the car I'm just saying on the street you would have to be driving recklessly unless it was slick out.

I really like the car, I think it's great. It reminds me a lot of my old M3 it's not an M3 but it will give you 7-8 10th of the driving dynamic minus the M exclusive bells and whistles.

Wait why not M235i vs 335i? They are in the same price range!

I hope not. I also demanded a manual tranny and would rather sacrifice 0-60 to have total control of my car. If I wanted an automatic I'd buy a sedan. 235i is a performance vehicle. Automatics just get boring to drive after a while. Dealer told me I was their first customer so far to request a manual tranny in my build...and they're trying to punish me for that. Ridiculous

yes port installed is in the lease..but most parts one would wish are not at the port...and unsure if and when they will be....misinformation would be saying that after your lease the vehicle..and the MPA parts are not the port. later on ordering at the dealer in the future they would be in the lease. they would not be...check and see how many are at the Port...not a lot that I can see listed from the SA....

Man, aside from the color I really don't have anything positive to say about the looks. Really disappointing to me.

I really don't understand why posters make posts like this...?? If you don't like it, fine, just move on. There are lots of folks on here that do like it, and don't really care about your dislikes. What is the point??

I think almost everyone can agree that BMW could have put some more thought into the bland, uninspired rear tail lights but overall I think the car looks good. It doesn't have the sleekness of the M-Sport 4 series exterior but it makes up for that underneath the hood

Looks good!
I like the comparison shot with the 128i.

I was leaning towards a 435i vert but as soon as press photos release of the 235i vert I'm sure I'll lose interest in the 435i real quick.

Sight unseen, the 235i performance wise is more interesting just on paper anyone would agree.
I bet the brakes are fantastic.

Side note:
I'm really liking the SBM color with Ful Oyster interior on a 235i convertible
2 series convertible press release cannot come soon enough....now it's time plot out my master plan to ditch my F30 3er.

I think some people come to forums to check out new cars/tech and then sometimes vent. If you don't like the new 2 series and have been reading a lot prior to arrival, it might be a disappointment.

I like the car, but the mirrors are ridiculous. Might as well have painted the bootlid silver.

Honestly, this shouldn't be hard to concept to understand. You buy/lease the item that you want that's within your price range. I'm sure there are going to be people that get a M235i that could afford a significantly more expensive car. Similarly, there are going to be people that get the M3/M4 that could afford a M5/M6. It all comes down to personal priorities. As far as I'm aware, there is no rule that says one needs to spend the maximum amount of money possible within their budget to maximize automotive performance.

Not saying I would turn down a M3/M4, but I can think of plenty of things that I would/could spend money on that isn't a car.

With that said congrats on having one on order. It's likely the car I will get next, once my lease is up.
