Yeah, I'm an idiot because I don't fall over myself to pay sticker like a fanboy. The notion of calling someone an idiot because they aren't willing to pay sticker for a run of the mill car and will take their business elsewhere is truly asinine and uncalled for.
No your an idiot for thinking that a car that a dealer has 1 allocation/month would be willing to discount it so heavily, especially when it was JUST released.

I have one eye on the M235i with it's ridiculous price with all the goodies and the other on the S550...Anyone who does not shop around, especially in this price range, is a FOOL or a FAN boy of-->Look at me, 'I'm driving a BMW'.

I didn't say don't shop around. But saying "if bmw doesn't give me $2-3k off I'm gonna go get a mustang at a big discount" is STUPID. BMW isn't competing with ford. If you were to say you were shopping it with a CLA 45 AMG, than we'd have a logical comparison.

I'm not going to walk into BMW and pay $40k for a 228i, I'll pay absolutely no more than $38k and if they won't take it, I won't buy one. It may be a new model, but it isn't limited production, nor is it special; it's just a run of the mill car. I don't think $2k-$3k is ridiculous at all on 40 grand, it's not like I'm asking for $7k-$8k off. Will they take that in May? Probably not but we will see. If not I won't be waiting a year to order, I'll be going to Ford and picking up a new Mustang GT for much more than $3k off.

I don't need to buy a car, but BMW needs to sell one.

Obviously you can't read. I'm going to make an offer, and if they don't take it, I don't really care. I have no brand loyalty and BMW isn't the end-all be-all. The worst car I ever owned was a BMW and I have refused to even look at them in 10 years as a result. Lots of other great cars out there from great manufacturers who WILL sell me a car at my price. I have the power here, not the dealer. If you think otherwise, you're the true idiot. Hell, at least I know the difference between "your" and "you're", so who's really the idiot here?

No, it isn't stupid, and yes, they are competing with the Mustang, whether you think so or not. Anyone dropping $40k-$50k on a RWD coupe is looking at the S550, the only people who aren't are fanboys and idiots, such as yourself. What the fuck difference does it make if I cross shop a Mustang or a CLA? How is that even relevant? Why does it matter what I cross-shop? You are either cross-shopping or you aren't, doesn't matter what it is, it's a potential lost sale for BMW, who, apparently unbeknownst to you who clearly has no semblance of knowledge as to how business works, DOES need to sell vehicles.

God, you're a douchebag, not to mention, pretty unintelligent since you have no logic in your posts but are quick to just tell everyone else they are stupid for not paying sticker.

Merry Christmas, enjoy paying sticker while your CA that you probably think you have such a close relationship with just sneers behind your back about taking you for a ride.

You must have blinders on, BMW<->MB is how you shop-->

FYI->I've owned BMW, Audi, Honda, Chevy, Ford, (My Last was a 12 BOSS 302), etc. Mustang was by far more fun to drive, handled better than an M3, sounded better than a M3 and guess what?--> It was loads cheaper than a M3...So...I'll use your 'STUPID' theory and shop around, YOU keep it to TWO choices-->

Now, the M235i has me interested as a DD, it might be fun to drive + give thrills like a Go-Kart, but I won't pay crazy $$, just so I can feel special because I'm behind the wheel of a BMW...Which, is why so many purchase BMW-->IMO

Agreed and well-said. I've owned two VWs, two Fords, two BMWs, and two Daihatsus and one Toyota while I was living overseas. All of them were great cars for what purpose they served, except my E36, which was just a piece of mechanical trash that I was more than thrilled to unload.

Don't pay him anymore attention, even those in the God's Chariot forum will be smart enough to cross shop the S550 at half the cost, while he will be throwing himself at his CA just so he can get the badge to floss like a big shot, when in reality nobody anywhere worth their salt actually cares what anyone else drives.

Just to add fire to this debate I wouldn't buy a Mustang 2015 or other without a 10% discount. I can assure you that 99% of BMW owners don't shop Ford or Chevy. One niche product of BMW kinda is in the same market as Mustang but not really. The average transaction price of a Mustang is at least $10K less than a 1 or 2 series. Why would BMW want to sell cars at $20K to $30K? The 2 series isn't designed to sell 100,000 cars a year like a Mustang, the 320 and X1 are the price leaders to get people to buy a BMW. BMW competes with Mercedes, Audi, Jag, Lexus, Acura and others but the others are not Ford or Chevy.

After talking with David Aviles about the allocations, it seems that most dealer will be getting identical cars (the ones that have been in production since November) for people to test drive and check out.

I am not sure about the 228i, but the first allocation for David was "locked" into Black Sapphire Metallic and with the ZF transmission. I am sure that they're all going to look like this. Hopefully they will start showing up in dealers soon.

I know my M235 will begin production the first week of January now, which is nice from a planning perspective.

I am pretty sure that a dealer's allocation schedule is directly tied to how many cars they sell. So bigger dealers have more spots in line so to speak.

BMW is competing with everybody, or haven't you noticed how popular their 3 series vehicles are? Haven't you noticed the trend they've gone to compete with other mainstream sports and luxury vehicles?

Yes, BMW does need to sell vehicles. Probably not the first month (or even 3) of a new vehicle with 1-2 units per month of allocation. On that, you are right. But they do need to sell vehicles to keep up with year over year performance goals.

That's a lot! Is that normal in the UK? If you can get 10% off on the first month, how much will you be able to get at the end of its life cycle?

I am a little surprised that people expect so much off on a brand new model, but Im even more concerned that BMW allows it. I guess their drive to sell as much as they can are leading to more discounts up front, which leads to lower resale values. Used to be only the American cars discounted like that.
