Key Fob Differences

Is the Comfort Access key fob bigger than the standard non-Comfort Access key fob? Not sue I want to have a bigger key fob in my pocket all the time if I get Comfort Access.

No difference in size or weight.

Older BMWs needed the fob plugged into the car to start/run the engine. This allowed them to have rechargeable batteries. AFAIK, all 2-Series have "Comfort Go" even if no keyless entry, meaning that you only have to have the fob in the cabin to drive - it never gets plugged in.

This gives a double-whammy:
The fob has can't have rechargeable batteries and it uses its radio more often to confirm that it's present. So more power used and no opportunity to take power from the car leads to the need for a physically larger battery in a bigger fob. And you have to change it occasionally.

I don't think this is right. For example, E90 cars came with and without Comfort Access. Comfort Access allowed starting the engine without inserting the fob in the slot (which was there anyhow in the dash). Comfort Access fobs were powered by replaceable (and not rechargeable) CR2032 batteries. The fobs were all the same size and significantly smaller than the current ones.

I stand corrected; I thought that the Comfort Access fobs had always been bigger.

The bigger size of the current fobs is a mystery to me. If they wanted to make something bigger, my candidate would be the fuel tank.

A larger key fob wouldn't effect mileage numbers.

Yes,a 15 gal. tank would be nice. We have 13.7 gal with, apparently, an aux. tank of 2 gal. you can't use.
