It is called the Vehicle Inquiry Report--the way it is saved on my CPU, I am having a hard time loading it on here for you guys to see. I tried to convert it to a pdf...

It basically has two columns--one which is based on MSRP and one that is based on "wholesale" as it is called in the document--this is the ~7% off price...

Looks like you're in Ohio--I am in Indy, so you would do it like I do...

David used to be at Northwest BMW in Baltimore--he is now at Steve Thomas BMW in LA. However, you can still pick your car up from the Baltimore dealership, and all of your communications will be with David directly in LA.

Me and my pops went out there 3 years ago and picked the car up ourselves--it was a great drive through the mountains and whatnot.

He has several options--you can pick the car up in Baltimore, or LA if you wanted...or he knows vendors if you want the car to be shipped to your front door.

Good dude and real BMW enthusiast--he drives a Fire Orange E92 M3.

Can he do ED for out of state customers? Is that price close to ED invoice (~12-14% under MSRP) on new vehicle?

Now that I don't know--you can email him though. I think his email is BMWDavid@me.com

Exactly my next question too. For ED what pricing should we look for from David? How much under invoice? Or would the VIR be what we would pay?

Btw, really appreciate the input from those who have done this.

All depends if ED comes out of dealer's allocation if it does then you will be looking at paying ED MSRP (~7% off US MSRP) if the 2 series does not come out of dealer allocation then you will get ED Invoice (~14% off US MSRP !!)

I can't speak to the trade-ins because I was ending one lease, and starting another one. It will be the same thing when my new M235 shows up.

My guess would be that David could give you a ballpark figure, but that to finance a new vehicle through him, you would need to physically trade the car in at his dealership.

Since I am reaching maturation of my current 135 lease, I can actually drop it off at any BMW dealership. I am not going to do that though--I am just going to take it to NW BMW in Baltimore when my M235 shows up.

I would call David and talk it through with him--I would guess that this has happened before and that he has a mechanism by which you could trade your car in for a new one. Just not sure how that works...

I'm going to shoot for 12% Off MSRP for ED.

I hope I get any discount at all! Since I'm first in line I'm sure dealership won't want to budge. That being said, I am getting BMW college discount and loyalty, but that's not the piece of the dealerships pie. Hopefully I can get a good trade in or else there will be lots of back and forth going on

Just tell them if they don't want to give you a good deal then you'll walk. Not so hard really. Then call other dealerships.

You might not get it right away, but patience always has it's rewards

O I will!

You don't pay for the car until it arrives, so they won't have much of an option since it will be manual + LSD (if price is right).

Plus, I'm not going to be unreasonable. Since they will have me right then and there, I am sure it could get 500 or more off msrp!

If you only get $500 off sticker on a brand new $50k car, that's absolutely terrible. Problem is, by being one of the first to order, the dealer has the upper hand because they know you want it bad, and on top of that when they have it sitting in the delivery center all prepped and ready to go and you go in to do the deal, they know you are that close to it and you've seen it and you'll buy it no matter how bad the deal, so it's going to be tough to get much of a deal.

While a new model, it's still just an M235i, not something like a Boss 302 with future collectibility and limited production.

That might be harder than you think, when the 4 series first came out people were paying US MSRP minus whatever incentives they had (loyalty, ultimate drive, college grad...) hell some people even paid a premium just to get theirs that early. If the car comes out of dealer allocation it means the demand will be higher than the supply which will make it really hard to negotiate even if you get your car from David. Even if you can get the fleet program discount you will still have to wait for dealer to get more allocations. (I went through this whole process when i was trying to get an F32)

Don't quote me on this but I think it took about 9 months to a year for people to get invoice +$500 on F30s

I am #3 in line for the M235i at David's dealer in LA. He said ED does come out of dealer allocation, which is why I put my money down.

I bought my 135i when he was at the Baltimore stealership and had a great experience. Ordered my car, watched it get made, cross the water and everything. About 3 months later it pulled up to my door with all the plastic still on it, just as I wanted.

It did cost $500 to ship, but still, invoice + $500 is not bad.

Guy has to be making some good commission on all the deals he does

Meh, these are not M cars. If you know how to deal then you should be able to get what you want.

I'm sure it mostly comes down to people being impatient and settling for a couple thousand off sticker.

If they were produced in limited quantities, then it's a different story.

Me too - I just drove to Baltimore to pick mine up.

Jason - when is "any day"? No offense to the Canadians, but I want to see the US guide...
