In before wrong forum! haha
This is just my personal opinion but if I were doing a tune for a BMW right now I would save some money for likely the same or more power and check out Burger Tuning. Very easy and nice gains. I haven't had a BMW for a few years now so things might have changed... but I doubt it.

I put the ACS piggy back tuner module on and have been extremely happy with it. They put in some good "power nannies" in as well, doesn't kick in until car completely warm and only in upper RPM band. Doesn't void warranty either :thump:
Pretty good gains: Power (hp): 510@6,800rpm (Stock 431@5,500rpm) Torque (lb ft): 475@4,000rpm (Stock 406@1,850-5,500rpm) Here is the link to my thread with all the info http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1206009

i do everything in OT nowadays. Just trying to see if it's worth not having my car for a few weeks while they use it for R&D. I will get the unit for free and would like to see if people here had problems with the Dinan unit.

Dinan tune is never worth it unless you like to spend lots of money and see crappy returns.
Your first choice should be a custom flash, the piggybacks work too with somewhat less perfect drivability than a good flash. |

Dinan is one of the most reliable and safer tunes though right? This being my first BMW, I was leaning towards Dinan for those reasons.

All the established brands are both safe and reliable. Look into Cobb w/ a dyno protune. You'll be pissed you went with dinan when some dude who spent $500 on a JB4 blows you out of the water.

I know Dinan is overpriced. I honestly haven't really considered or looked into that many other brands. I have read a few nightmare issues some members have had on here with other brands. Dont recall the names in the two recent posts. I'll have to look into it.

Another question to ask yourself is do you really need the power. Unless you have the specific goal of drag racing other cars, you probably don't. A stock M235i has way more power than anyone who's not experienced can use in anger.

I have Dinan stage 2. I knew going in that I would not have the most hp per $ but that was not my objective. I have had a very good experience with the company and their products. If you are looking for the least expensive tune then Dinan is not for you. I prefer the conservative tune and the comfort of protection which comes in the form of their warrantee ( and the fact that the engine is not wrung out for max power).
Probably doing stage 4 turbo upgrade too......

Dinan is overpriced for what they charge for a Stage1 is less than what a $380 Stage1 BMS Stage1 offers these days. Trust everyone, Dinan is not the Good Dinan from before. They're using a piggyback and do not have any great 1/4 times and can't back up their Dyno numbers. Their Marketing Team is amazing though thats why you have all these ppl believing on the warranty hype
