Fabspeed's M235i Muffler Bypass Exhaust System Review

Once again, John Brandenberger and his team at Fabspeed Motorsports have came through with an exceptional product. If you remember about a month ago I posted a full review of Fabspeed's Sport Cat Downpipe and how satisfied I was with that product, this one is no different.

I was fortunate enough to be the first customer to receive this system with thanks to John Brandenberger being the first to contact me about the possibility of this system and I was ecstatic.

This exhaust system hits the nail on the head in all aspects:

1. The looks: The exhaust just looks incredible. The carbon fiber tips give it a premium look along with the remarkable welds of the system which really prove it is truly a work of art.

2. Affordability: This system is priced beyond attractiveness. You get beyond what you pay for.

3. Sound: The sound this system produces is almost intoxicating. Since having the system installed last Friday, I have yet to listen to the radio or any form of music due to the beautiful note that it produces. It's the perfect sound between maturity and that 18 year old racecar driver within all of us. The gargle and backfire during deceleration is addicting. It draws the right amount of attention and I haven't heard one bad remark about it.

All in all, once again, I am a beyond satisfied customer. I normally do not gloat about my personal experiences with certain businesses but this place has treated me with nothing but respect from start to finish. John is very helpful, informative and most important responsive. I recommend not only this product, but this business for all of your tuning needs. Hope you enjoyed this review as I believe this is a great product released out right before the holidays!

Attached I have a link to the Muffler Bypass Exhaust System on their website and also a video of what the exhaust sounds like:

Ha I was expecting a 2k price tag or something based on all the other exhausts I've seen...this is a pretty attractive option

It's just a simple muffler/resonator delete. You can do it at any reputable shop probably for about $200 and reuse your stock pipes/tips.

This is true, at first I thought it was a new system then realized what it was. Not worth the money then.

Yeah no shit, I was quoted $180 do get that similar setup.

You have gotta be smoking serious fucking crack and have a giant set of balls to ask $900 for that I don't give a damn how good the welding is.

The pricing may not be palatable to everyone, but for those comparing it to a $200 exhaust system fabbed up down the street, it’s hard to compete with that. Our system is dyno tested, produced off a jig to ensure proper fitment, and comes with a choice of great looking tips (which are easily removable and replaceable at any time). We back it with a warranty and the full support of our entire company. We’re always willing to customize the exhaust further than what you see, if you want custom laser engravings, the piping to be extended to compensate for a valance, etc, we’re happy to do it. We build this system out of US sourced, T304L .065” wall stainless steel, the good stuff. It’s worth noting we are looking into a titanium option as well. This was designed as a high quality option for those looking for extreme sound out of a simple, reversible exhaust modification. We do offer significant forum discounts, by the way. I’m always here to provide quotes and answer any questions.

The video has our Sport Cat downpipe installed. I will be getting a video soon from a customer who is installing next week with factory downpipe. I will post in here as soon as I receive it.

As for the in-cabin drone; absolutely nothing. Mated with our Sport Cat or just the Muffler Bypass you will experience no drone.

Fabspeed Muffler Delete Exhaust

Looks like a quality piece of gear to me; well made and reasonably priced compared to the BMW Performance exhaust. Like the sound a lot; I suspect that with the stock downpipe, it would be a bit quieter, which might be more to some people's liking. Also, really like that different tailpipe finishers are available to suit different tastes. Nice work, guys!

Correct. I do not experience any form of drone and my commute to work is 70% highway driving and I have no complaints.

Bumping this up regarding droning.

How is it possible that there's no drone with this system of muffler delete vs. muffler deletes where 1,500 ~ 2,500rpm has droning?

*Talking about with stock or catless DP.

I have this system on my personal M235i and the only time it drones is when I get lazy or not paying attention and I am in too high of a gear at too low of a speed. Even a stock car will drone when that happens. A simple up-shift or downshift solves it.

If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me and I'll be glad to assist!

Really glad to hear.

I've ordered the sport cat + muffler bypass package as well thanks to Bobby. Excited to put them on!

How much louder do you estimate this setup is compared to stock?
