BMW Assist

I completed the final steps to getting my BMW Assist activated this morning. I'm sure 99% of you are way ahead of me on this feature, but I had to jump through a few more hoops than I initially anticipated. But, not a big deal. Just make a couple of phone calls and then push the SOS button (seemed almost like launching a missile with that protective button cover and all).

So not only is my car now in the Assist program, the BMW App on my iPhone now works. I tested the headlight flash feature and it worked just fine.

This seems like VooDoo in some ways, but it is really cool!

Successfully used my "remote horn" feature to locate my 235i in an enormous parking lot this weekend. Much to the jealous look of my wife…

The App for iPhone is called, "My BMW." Once you get BMW Assist activated, you're good to go. I get big kick out of flashing my headlights, locking my doors and seeing the location of my car with my iPhone.

I should get an android phone and keep an iPod touch in the car for everything else. All the bmw apps are iCentric, but I just don't want an iPhone. Had one, left it, but miss some of the apps.

I bet that is Apple as they are very strict with there apps.. I doubt BMW had anything to due with it being removed.

Who actually writes the App? BMW? And what would Apple have to gain by crippling an App? Has Apple offered their own alternative?

I'm sure BMW app builders create the app but Apple has final say on how the app works and what can be in it. they are just really strict. I don't know why apple would have it removed. They can be an odd company at times. Very controlling. You do it there way. haha
