$41k for a 2016 M235i - unreasonable?
Hi folks,
I've been searching for a used 2-series car in the past 2 weeks. So far, I could notice that the used market for this model is very scarce. No used M235i cars in Ottawa whatsoever! So I've driven to GTA last weekend to have a look at a few. I found 3 cars at a reasonable price. But one turned out to be stolen/recovered, and another one was good but offered way too low for my trade-in. The last one, which I was really interested, was a 2016 model with 20k km on it. It was fairly basic, no sunroof and M/T which would actually be my preference. It was leased for a year to a BMW employee, and they priced at $41k. At the time I wasn't sure yet if the price was good, but 2 days after I then realized it was a good deal, considering it was from a BMW dealer and I would be able to get 6 years of warranty in total when counting with the extended one. Unfortunately they sold the car on the same day I was trying to close the deal. Now I don't see that many possibilities of finding such deal. Am I expecting too much for trying to find a 2016 M235i for that price again (and not more than 20k km for mileage)? I've seen 2014 models at that price range, sometimes even more equipped and lower mileage like this one: http://www.bmwlondon.ca/used/vehicle...i-id995399.htm But I would much prefer to trade the extra equipment and lower mileage for something with a bit more mileage, less stuff and with extra 2 years of warranty. |

Good luck with your search!...When the M235's are underpriced like that, you have to jump on it...Anything under $45K (depending on mileage) is considered on the lower side of the used price range.
To be honest I wasnt even looking for a car when I bought my M235...Saw it in Autotrader on Sat, signed my cheque for it Monday. It was a dealer demo with 2700 on it - full warranty |

True. I've been casually looking for a couple months and under $45K is very rare and doesn't last.
Probably going to bite the bullet and get an M240i. Chris |

When you guys say under $45k is a good price, you are only referring to 2016 models? Or even 2014 are unusual at this price?

Hopefully many will trade for an M240i and I can see more 2016 M235i available |

Actually when doing the math, many 2016 M235i are in the $48k range. But they have xDrive, A/T and sunroof package.
If you take those things out, plus add a higher mileage (~20k km), it wouldn't be all that surprising for the price to drop to $41k. A brand new M240i costs $48k. The only problem is actually finding such stripped down model, since most come at least with A/T... Last edited by bmwqt; 10-28-2016 at 03:56 PM.. |

This is the time of year to start looking. I grabbed my '15 in January of '16 for $49k. Car was originally sold for $64k (Perf Edition) and had 12k on it. Best deal I've ever seen (or heard of), which is why I couldn't pass it up. One sold on the Island (Van) one month later for $56k w/ 8,000kms on it, so I won this time!

Here is a good site where you can determine accurate values for used cars here in Canada. You must also consider that a dealer always wants to realize $2K on a sale so factor that in. There's lots out there but you have to be searching all the time, recognize the good deal and jump on it. Enjoy http://www.vmrcanada.com/canada_makes.htm

Came across a Melbourne Red 16 M235i xDrive for $46K with 11,900km on it.
Take delivery on Thursday after the windows are tinted and the front protection is applied. The wait is horrible... can't imagine the wait for an order... Chris |
