I run this intake in conjunction with the CAI scoop which feeds cold air to the factory intake hole then into the AFE Intake. I also removed the rubber grill to aid in airflow. I can say i see a 3-4 Degree C difference in intake temps of over the stock air intake. I also put some heat reflective material on the underside of the intake as it runs over the radiator.... I believe this also helps.

As I was getting ready to step out to lunch Today Fed Ex shows up with my AFE, I decide to install before grabbing lunch, five minute install.... right? I confirm the part numbers before opening, confirm all parts were included and begin pulling the stock intake. It took me a good 30 mins but next go around it should take 10 to 15 mins. I was being overly cautious.

I cranked her up listened and visually observed/inspected and then took her out for a spin, she ran good and had no issues. The words smooth and effortless were my first thoughts again, she felt really good, pulled really good, sounded really good, with just a faint whistle sound on heavy acceleration and on the initial deceleration from a hard acceleration.

I need more seat time but my initial impression was favorable.

I will be ordering the JB4 stage II next, then a down pipe after to complete my mod list.

Thanks for the follow up. I'll be ordering one myself in about a month or two when the weather here in Pheonix cools down and I can do some before and after dyno runs.

Have your ordered the JB4 ? Are you thinking of going catless with your downpipe?

Ordered it last night. I will eventually go catless with map 2 in the long run but will start off with map1 and test out map5. I am very curious to see what she is putting down to the wheels so at some point I will get her on a dyno and see what the stock tune vs map X netted me before adding the down pipe.

Dry S or Pro 5 R?

Does it even make a difference?

I actually went with the dry filter to avoid the oil with a slim chance of it possibly coating the MAF sensor over time. Personal perference on my part.

On their website they say this about the dry filter "This filter has a 99.2% filter efficiency"

So the oil based filter is .8 percent better flow if I am interpretting their data correctly.

It appears they are interchangable but a spare filter is pricey but I will likely get a spare filter to avoid down time when cleaning down the road.

Is everyone going for the open cone version? No closed box one?

I went closed to help minimize the possibility of hot air being pulled in.

Ah nice, that's the one I want to go with. How's the sound? Pretty noticeable? Can you hear it with the windows up? How loud would you say it is windows up/down on a scale of 1-10 with stock being a 1?

I have not driven it yet with the windows down but I think wind noise would negate any intake sound gains. The whistle/whoosh sound is pretty subtle, I notice it when I step on the gas regardless of speed, I hear a nice subtle "whistle" sound. I also notice it on the initial deceleration as well when I take my foot off the gas. With the Stereo on I did not hear much of anything. On a scale of 1 - 10 with windows up and radio off I give it a 3 - 4 on sound, with the stock being a 1.

I had a nice spirited run Today and I was like wow this has got to be more than a placibo effect. I'm sure the driver in that Mercedes was saying wow too. I really dig this intake.

Damn it, I want one now but I also want to dyno it and it's still 100º+ out here. Where did you end up buying it from, Amazon?

Go for it and enjoy it now and dyno in the fall. It is a 10 min swap so you could always just drive home with the stock one and replace at your leisure or heaven forbid your numbers are better stock, leave it off. My guess is after the dyno you will take the 10 minutes to put the AFE back on.

got it on Amazon.

Interesting catch. They give every impression that the vehicle in question is the 335i. and the $77 dollar one out flows the $500 one???? hmmmm

I want to actually dyno stock then change the intake while still there and then dyno again so I think I should wait. I'll get the M Performance Exhaust in the mean time to hold me over. :P
