A Map 5 run would have been nice.
While I still won't call the results disappointing, BMS' own 435i with just an intake and downpipe did 414 RWHP on a Dynojet on a mix of 91 and E85, and that was almost 5 months ago. Of course, different dyno, different conditions, outright numbers, yadda yadda, but that's a significant difference with just fuel and Map 7. What's most iffy is the 10 RWHP gain from JB4 off to Map 1. Since I'll strictly be running Map 1 on 91-octane pretty much all the time...I was hoping gains would be a little better than that. |

With regards to the Map 2 numbers, I just remembered that JustinCredileM had done similar dyno tuning scenarios (with same mods except AFE intake). His thread (a few threads down from mine) shows him running 359whp/400wtq with 95 octane. So we're relatively even.. I know with a little mixed gas and better run conditions the car should easily do over 360whp.
Now if you look at Delnari's numbers (on Jb4 Map 1 and only the AFE intake) .. he does 323whp/365wtq but without the downpipe! No correlation at all there.. maybe another dyno is in my future...

Hey Boss,
You are in Indy right? I think I have seen/heard your car on 1-465-sounds mean as heck!.Sean told me he was dong a blue M235i few days ago so I presume that was you. I am also going to Fat house next week.Plan on doing runs with 93,100 and E35. I have done some 1/4 mile testing stock and with the JB4(on different days) with 93 octane. About a month ago at No limits race way in Morocco it ran a best of 13.2@104 stock. Stopped by again on my way home from chicago yesterday and ran 13.0@107 with stage II.Only other mods are the MPE I too was somewhat disappointed as based on these numbers I gained about 30 rwhp. Both runs were with about the same 60 ft 1.95).Car launched best so far just foot braking to 2500 rpm.Launch control worked but would bog off the line. I can probably get a better 60 ft with practice( I usually run a manual 10 sec 2012 Mustang GT- Sold my 700 rwhp Shelby after test driving the M235i but that is a different story ). I figure if I can get the 60ft down to 1.8 it will run high 12's on 93 and hopefully mid 12's with 100 octave or the e85 mix. We should get together sometime.Have you made any 1/4 mile passes? |

Sorry I could not catch up with you last weekend.
Had to go to drill. The car made just 328 rwhp through the auto running map 2 and 93 octane It has the EWG and flex fuel wires installed . Ben said it was difficult to dyno because of the auto.Auto also make less at the wheels due to drive train loss compared to manuals. He has not yet run it with race gas or E35 so hopefully it makes some more. I also still have stock down pipes and he said the catless ones were good for another 20-30 rwhp. Not sure yet if I will go that route since the wife likes driving the car and it may be too loud and smelly without the cats. I would love to see your car up close and see how loud it is. Ben said it sounded good and it sure did when I heard it from a far on 465. |

I will say the car is definitely on the louder side now and I have been tossing around the idea of putting the stock exhaust back on (leave the downpipe on). I think the car sounds great at WOT and on the highway but it is a little overwhelming in city/street driving. I am going to the autocross at Grissom Aeroplex on Saturday. Do you know of any BMW meets in the area? I'll probably be more of a regular at the cars and coffee too.

Funny thing is Fathouse thinks the EWG was not installed.
I had a recommended tech do it at BMW so plan to ask him again if he did or not although he said he did after leaving out the first time! With 100 octane on Map 7 it made 372 rwhp and and 400 ft/lbs torque at 17 psi. It made up to 425 ft/lbs on one run. It feels like a beast on 100 octane.if indeed the EWG was not installed,Terry said it should make over 400 rwhp with the EWG on race gas. I will wait to clarify if the EWG was done or not .if I can get to 400 rwhp with EWG on race gas and run mid 12's I will skip the down pipe. |

Turns out my tech at BMW did not install the EGW(again!)
He could not figure out how.He is a good guy but just wished he had told me in the first place. He has now got the instructions from BMS so will do it in the morning. I ran the car at Lucas oil way with the race gas but it only picked about 1.5 mph @ 108.5 mph .I was able to break into the 12's at 12.9 so I am somewhat pleased. If it picks up some more rwhp and trap speed with the EGW it will run mid 12's 110+ mph There was another guy there who works at BMW(my BMW tech was also there)who has a 135i-N54.He has down pipes and is tuned to 22 psi putting down over 400 rwhp and he ran 12.7 110 but he has a manual.I liked the sound of his car so I may end up doing the down pipes You should come down there on Wednesdays. It is always fun ,you get to meet lots of car people and see some incredible cars. |

Ran the car on wednesday with the EWG now installed.
I think I got lucky my first pass.It dead hooked with the launch control, cut a 1.89 60 ft and ran 12.45@109.5 so picked up another 1 mph. Definitely runs stronger.Sure surprised many people as there were GT500's there running high 12's and low 13's.lol I think with a down pipe and E40 it could run high 11's. Would love to hear you car with the down pipes as seriously considering that now. Will you be at Cars and coffee this saturday? |

100 octane and map 7.Not sure what exact conditions were but it was in the low 80's and did not feel humid.Stock tires, down pipes/intake and MPE. I will look at my time slip(and see if I can post it here) to get exact conditions. It was my first pass off the highway and like I said dead hooked. I was there early and the track was still sticky.I tried to back it up but kept spinning with the launch control but the trap was consistent at 109 mph. |

Looked at the time slip of the 12.45 run and calculated DA was 2000ft.
I have not been able to replicate the time/ET but ran consistent 12.7's @109-110 on race gas./similar DA.Launch control now blows of tires so having to foot brake to 2000 rpm but still spins so may need to be lower.Runs were on map 7 which made 350.I triedx the Map 6 which had the tune that made 372 but ran slower ! Got back to Fathouse today(5.0 was also dynoed with new set up and made 740 /740 but having fuel issues and should make over 800/800 when sorted out ) Ran it with E30 mix on Map 2 and made 358.... Terry looked at logs, made adjustments and it made....403/450 on Map 7!! Said logs look good so can leave it on Map 7. Car feels fast! Going to take Terry's advice and use kick down blocker, launch in second to get 60 ft down. With the extra power hope to see 113-114 mph trap and may be low 12's or even high 11's.if not, should get there with down pipes . Alz0rz Are you going to make it to cars and coffee tomorrow ? Would love to hear how your car soundswith down pipes Last edited by olaosunt; 08-23-2014 at 12:10 AM.. |

What drive mode are you using?
Do you let it shift in DS or M, if M what rpm do you shift at? DTC or DSC off ? I heard is better to launch with the softest suspension setting for better traction so thinking of... COMFORT, DTC, shifter in M2 Will also try the kick down blocker.... you can even use the M laptimer to verify 100% throttle Last edited by pikcachu; 08-23-2014 at 02:04 AM.. |

runs were made in sport plus, autoshifting.
may try shifting myself the next time since burger recommends 5000-6000 rpm shifts. |

I see.... do some passes in comfort, DTC, shifter in Sport if you can next time... idea is that because suspension is softer than sport if should hook better
my best run stock was 13.195 but my reaction time was .680 as is was my first time ever at the strip... amazingly the 60' was 1.93... this run was in sport+ with shifter in DS.... i heard about comfort afterwards |
