I tried a long time ago to pair up pictures of side to side of the 1er and 2er, couldn't really see a difference using my photoshop rulers. I think I read the 2er will be a bit longer, but not by much

Just comparing the E87 1er to the F20 1er, the wheelbase is 0.7 inches longer, the car is 3.3 inches longer, 0.7 inches wider and the same height. I'd assume that we'll see similar differences when comparing the F22 to the E82. That would put the F22 at around 175.5 inches long, or about 7 inches shorter than the F32 4er.

Yeah, or at least between E36 and E46 size. The F32 is shorter than the E92, so there's still hope that the F22 could end up being closer to the E82 length and not see the same 3.3 inch growth that the hatch saw.

My mistake, I must have been thinking of the 4er design study, not the production car, it did add 0.7".
So in summary, in inches: E87: 166.9 F20: 170.2 E82:172.2 E36 coupe:174.5 F22 derived: 175.5 (just adding the same 5.2" gain from the E87 to E82) E46 coupe: 176.7 E90:178.2 E92: 181.9 F30: 182.5 F32: 182.6 |
