5 months in and I'm already getting bored

The car was fun at first but to be brutally honest it just isn't quick enough, and the lack of punch on rolling starts is beginning to annoy me.

I cross shopped this with an M4 and c63s and at first felt that this was the smart option as it saved me considerable money but after a few months I'm thinking maybe it was a mistake not to go for the big brother.

I love the size of the car and the ride feel but knowing that BMW gimped this hard and there won't likely be a flash tune available for years to come has me looking at lightly used M4s again, did anyone else have the same lagging buyers remorse after 5k miles?

Maybe I'm not understanding, but are there not several flash tunes available already?

Honestly, the car is fast enough to get you in trouble quick on the streets. I could see where you could take issue with track performance, but usually a great track performing car takes money to build, or more money to buy.

Respectfully, are you trolling?

Shoulda gotta a Vert.. No matter how slow my 230xi might be, every time I put the top down, I get a smile on my face. But I must say this, if I didn't have a Vert, I'd feel a bit depressed with the 230Xi. The ride is smooth and it's quicker than most cars on the road, but the drive feel is really numb.

BTW, I've had my car for just over a month and have 5K miles..

All it takes is money and desire to go faster. My son owns a shop in IL that could have you looking for ZO6s to embarrass. (my Z is 700 hp and I couldn't beat one of his modded 2er) Upgraded turbo, etc......

Three years in with a 228i, not at all. I have to consciously hold back, as our speed limits here are all in two digits, but whether I get there a second or so later is no big deal to me and I could NOT care less about the guy in the next lane. Our priorities for acceleration are clearly quite different! Hope you find what you're looking for!

Have you tried one of the piggy back tunes available? I have a 235 with a Turner piggyback and the car is very quick. The 2 series has never been about straight line speed. If you're looking for that maybe get a GTR.

Totally agree. The vert makes everything else a moot point. That's why we always insist on our daily driver to be a vert.

Nope, I wasn't bored with mine while I was in Germany. Now that I am in the states, I find myself easily speeding so I have to be careful not to get in trouble. I also daily a Subaru Outback with no get up, so getting back in the 2er puts a smile on my face each time.

Sounds so familiar....I also have a Crosstrek for rain, snow, going to places with tight/bad parking situations, etc. I don't think I could keep that one up to your Outback!

Any time I want to dump more money into go fast mods for my car I borrow my mother's S60 for a day or two. Stepping back into my car seems like a rocket ship by comparison.

Current generation OBs have too sensitive tip-in from a stop. Off the line, the thing feels really quick with the H4, even though it's slower than a slug.

I do have to give it to Subaru for it's Eyesight setup. That setup is on point..

No remorse. Added a Dinan Stage 1 and the car is a rocket (scary fast). M4 is 0-60 in 3.9, cannot imagine mine being that much slower. Coming out of a 2015 C7, my M240i feels every bit as fast (w/o the V8 growl).

To get the punch you want, you probably need to go to Corvette or more. (more like 911 turbo)
I don't think M4 will give that much more punchy feel than 240.

M240 is kind of at the edge of performance/price point. Beyond this car, price/performance goes way too much.

In order to buy a car that outperforms M240 by big margin, you need to spend nearly twice as much money. (except Camaro/Corvette/Mustang)

As you mentioned, C63s sounds about right if you can afford it.

Use the difference between your car and an M4 and buy one of these:

Problem WAY solved.

How fast or quickly do you need to go?

An M235i or M240i will get you Joy to Jail in a matter of seconds.

Right there with you. I rode one of these for about three years:

The only cars that are noticeably faster are below 4 sec 0-60 mark imo....there is also tuning, I am sure you can make m235i same or even faster then M4

Somthing wrong with your car? Bad gas? Wrong octane? Haven't tried sport mode yet?

I remember this day. Then I went BM3 and was blown away. A month in and I'm again thinking it's not enough and will probably go stage 2 turbo soon. Point is, I don't think it ever ends...
