Vehicle inspection and Emission light

My 235 is stage 1 bootmod. I have a catted sport downpipe.

My emission light is on again from the cat/02 sensor. Looking for guidance here. I’m way past inspection date and I need to remove the light. Is it possible to code it out? Or should I replace the o2 sensor. What are my options?

When the light goes off it usually passes. I know if I reset it they will tell me to come back.

Which brand is the catted downpipe? Not all pass emissions testing...

Some people have had success with 90 degree spacers between the O2 sensor and downpipe. But a complete drive cycle is needed for the car to test it self and turn off the emissions red flags stored in the computer.

How does your area check emissions, is it visual, scanner, sniffer?

Not sure honestly it’s a fabspeed catted downpipe. It has passed inspection before in NJ. The light sometimes comes on and stays on for weeks then turns off.

Works in NH for inspection. I keep on a CTS high-flow, remap to stock, and wait for OBD to read all sensors clear. No CEL in 5 years. Sure beats swapping a pipe every year.

I had an issue with my vrsf catted DP passing emissions for my 240i, I thought honestly with a drive cycle and the catted downpipe emissions wouldn't be a hassle like my f80 but it didn't pass. Brought it to a shop to get the car emissions passable, they added a bung to the downpipe to pass it and that still didn't even pass the car. Just went to a Polish guy and he passed it or me with the tune on it... See if you can find any emissions gurus that can pass it, you'll save $ trying to get it done and not having it pass.

pretty sure he just has the OBD linked to his computer which gives the right properties while he’s getting the test done, but it runs it as the car he is trying to pass. regardless it’s good to have someone who knows how to do that though.

Maybe just swap the stock DP back in for inspection... I found it was a pretty easy job!!! Just sayin'...
