I ordered MG on Coral Red. I'm not that pumped about the fact that the diffuser blends in, but I didn't want to get silver because of the mirror caps, and didn't want to get EB, because I didn't want a black interior. I'm getting out of a black Sapphire e90, and wanted something different. If I didn't live in New York, I would probably get AW. I wish they offered a carbon black or something similar, or even a Singapore grey...

Mineral or Alpine, No question. Grey is so boring and lacks contrast that really makes the car pop. Throw on Gun metal or black CSLs and your car will just be a masterpiece. Got so many compliments on my 135 it was non stop. I am very polarized when it comes to colors though, not a fan of the in betweens too much. Especially with Terra, white will be beautiful.

My dealer has ordered mw with terra and I've ordered mg with black. Sadly no pics of either yet as coming march but I'm already a bit jealous of mw with terra. Sounds lovely.

Look at my recent post if you want to see Mineral Grey.

What is everyone's thoughts as to the so-called gunmetal stnd 18" rims (assuming one can't upgrade them at the factory), stnd blue brake calipers, and stnd ferric grey (assuming one can't go with body-colour as an option)upper side-mirror caps?

It seems to me that the ferric grey mirror caps go better w the MW than the MG, and that the gunmetal stnd 18" rims and blue brake calipers go better w the MG than the MW. Are any of these issues dealbreakers? I'm inclined to think that there not, and that one should just go w the colour that looks best overall.

However, the rear diffuser, red tailights and front black air intakes stand out much better on MW than MG. That being said, I've been told that a white car shows scratches, and stone chips along the edge of the hood, much more than other colours.

Your thoughts?

I personally switched so all the colors would have a better chance of not looking like such a hodge podge. I've seen the car in person. None of the greys match. The mirrors are light, wheels slightly darker and the back plastic is a different shade of grey. Don't forget the awkward blue brakes. I'm going to add all the black possible that the accessories department offers to help match up the accent colors. This is such a personal question. Whatever you do decide IS the correct choice. Congrats on your purchase.
Can u share link to this article for the tech impaired LOL? To clarify u ultimately went w MG over MW, correct?

That's interesting, cause most of my colleagues are telling me that white cars are hard to keep clean, and in particular show all of the stone chips, scratches, etc., particularly on the front lower hood/bumper (albeit I try to take great care of my cars to avoid this in the first place). Did u have any issues w stone chips on your MW X1?

OP appreciates everyone's input and has the following comments for your consideration too:

My dealer is trying to see if BMW will offer a 19" rim upgrade for say $500 at the factory (to replace the stnd so so 18s, albeit the 19" options may not be that good either LOL); whether the upper side-mirrors can be body-coloured (instead of ferric grey); and whether I can get Michelin PSS and non-RFTs (albeit my dealer insists only RFT's for Canada) - all unknowns.

My biggest challenge is deciding whether to stick w MW or go w MG (both on Terra). Majority of family says go w MG. I've had sparkling graphite before (MG thankfully doesn't appear to have any pinkish hue in direct sunlight unlike SG), but MG appears to be a tad darker perhaps - too dark to expose the lovely rear diffuser. MW exposes the rear diffuser, front black air intakes and rear red taillights very well, but doesn't seem to go as well with the stnd 18" supposedly gunsteel-colour rims (assuming I can't upgrade them affordably to 19" in a different style) or stnd blue brake calipers. Really love the depth of MW (silver, pearlish hue) but am told white cars will show all the stone chips on the front, scratches, etc. (albeit I take extremely good care of my cars). Also, some people think white cars are girly (though I think that's silly). Anyway, any comments/thoughts w/b helpful. In particular, if u can share any colour photos of MW and MG on Terra (side view in particular) that would also help.

Many thanks from he who hates to make a wrong decision on exterior colour choice LOL.

Get silver then: it is less girly than white and exposes details more than MG. The silver has bluish hue (it is called: glacier silver for a reason) so it doesn't look too common.

Silver is 100 times more girly than white in my humble opinion.
White BMW's are classic and very aggressive looking

Hey Greg,

No wonder why your head hurts. So hard to choose between the two.

This is what I did when I was struggling between 2 colors.

I imagined myself at a stoplight. I bought the car with color A. The exact same car but in Color B rolls up next to me.

And then I imagine myself in the opposite scenario, i.e. now I'm sitting the car with color B and a color A rolls up next to me.

In which scenario would I regret more not getting the other color?

I've had a couple of people tell me this helped them break the tie. So in case it helps!

I've had a MW and AW M3 E92. I wouldn't pay the extra for the MW over AW as it's too subtle IMO. I really like the MG but think it would be a pain to keep nice here in the UK.

I must agree; I like white much better than silver. Silver looks like a dirty white, and isn't as sporty.

I could really use some side view pics and video of MW on M235i (showing blue brake calipers and gunmetal rims) to compare w MG. Help anyone? Also, what do u think about the stnd blue brake calipers and ferric grey upper-side-mirrors (assuming none of this can be changed at the factory), does it look better in MG or MW? IMO it looks about the same w either colour and is not a big factor in the decision.

Nevermind that silver is the historical racing color for Germany. Hence the Silver Arrows, Gullwings, MB F1 cars and just about every German LeMans race car being silver.

Not that this really has an impact on a sporty coupe...

Regarding Factory Upgrades at the Factory...not happening right now that I can see
some limited at the port..may increase shortly...its going to add up the price...get a list of pricing before you add on...include labor too...port labor should be cheaper then dealer...and do before you close ..or is separate from the lease ..if you want to lease..or separate from monthly car payments..depending if you get it before you see the dealer finance guy

I am now leaning towards EB
The added benefit is that the color will match the brakes and the trim accent.
