I had mine Dyno'd yesterday and I'm a little disappointed. BMW claims the M240i puts out 340HP but the results I got back show 304. BMW claims 369 ft-lbs of torque and mine is at 314. Anybody got any thoughts they'd care to share? I'm new to this site and a new BMW owner. (so I'm still pretty ignorant....) Any help will be greatly appreciated. I've emailed BMW but have not heard back.
Thanks, Mike.

BMW puts out horsepower and torque figures at the crank. A dyno reads them at the wheels. Somewhere about a 15% loss in the drivetrain occurs.

Thanks very much for educating me. I appreciate it.
Based on your info and some math, I'm down about 10%hp and 15% torque. I'd say from this point on I trust you. lol

Seriously, thank you very much. Love your car btw.

Using 15% for driveline loss, I see your numbers like this:

340 * .85 = 289 and 304 / 289 = 1.052
- OR -
Your 304 RWHP is 5.2% greater than BMW claims for the motor

369 * .85 = 314 and 314 / 314 = 1.000
- OR -
Your 314 RW Torque is equal to what BMW claims for the motor

Note: I'm not familiar with what top shops are using for driveline losses for contemporary BMWs, but for E36/46 M3s outfits like Dinan and Turner Motorsports were using 18% when I had my cars in their shops for tuning. Both shops used Dynapack dynamometers, which typically produced results ~10% lower than did a Dynojet 224 or 248.

Useful tidbit: The dyno operator at Turner once said to me "If you come in five days in a row and ambient conditions are pretty much the same on each of those days, I can promise you results that are +/-5% from one another."

I think theoretically I would benefit more than you would since I've gone Dinan CAI route which is sealed approach vs yours which is open in a couple of different ways. I also have not been very scientific about logging data to really quantify results with hard evidence.

All that said it's cheap and it looks cool, and it definitely doesn't hurt and maybe has a little benefit so why not. Worst case it's cosmetic. If you get a little more outside air into your engine compartment it can't do anything but perhaps bring temps down a bit.

Removed the main over-center spring from my clutch pedal. Now the clutch pedal is about 20% heavier and I can actually feel some of the friction point. The 1-2 shift is smoother as well.

Had a visit with CE750Jockey. We both have the identical sorta cool license plate from two different states, but the world being what it is, we'll keep the actual plates covered.

Side-by-side differences of '15 Sportline vs '16 M235i. I think I like the last shot the best.

Added M mirrors, M grille, blue bars behind grille, blue accent on front lip. I know the blue may not be for everyone but I like it. Matches the calipers and my lug bolts.

I like the blue!!! I'd swap those turn signal bulbs but otherwise squeaky clean!

Thanks! The turn signal bulbs are chrome covered amber, the sun was just at a perfect angle that the amber was evident. Usually you can’t see the amber at all. Here’s a better pic:

I'd love to do that side reflector delete but really don't need to give a reason for a state trooper having a bad day to pull me over. Most likely it would be a tack on to something else I'd guess. But the reflector is probably better to have for driving the country roads at night anyway.

If you look closely in the headlight assembly by the turn signal there is already a clear side reflector in there.

Unfortunately in Wisconsin as most other states the side reflector must be amber in color.

I washed and sealed the paint yesterday. I used Mckees 37 High Def Paint Sealant. The stuff was left on overnight. It came off very easy and is extremely slick.
