I think the OP had a very reasonable comment and of course it's worth looking at other cars. All I said was that I don't like the styling. I'm cool with someone disagreeing with my preference but I don't really understand why I'm somehow not entitled to an opinion because of some nebulous concept of 'design language'.
I was not at all disagreeing with your opinion of Caddy's styling (aka design language).
I already stated that it is quite polarizing and I suspect that most of the motoring public probably don't care for it.
But there is obviously a significant demographic which do like the design and it's to this group that Caddy looks to and markets to for a potential customer base for their product.
My disagreement was directed at your comments that they "need your business" and "selling to you".
Example, I'm not in Kia's target demographic. They are not selling to me, nor do they need my business and I'm pretty sure they could not care less what I think.

The design is polarizing for sure, but I still think it is more palatable than their offerings from 5-10 years ago.

Interesting to see all the responses. When I first started this thread, I didn't expect it to be so popular.

I've had the car for 2 weeks now and I'm in love. From a performance standpoint, the car is absolutely spectacular. The steering feedback is excellent and the chassis is superb. As soon as I took delivery (had the car shipped to me from Arizona) i dropped the car off at my local dealer to have two things done:

1. Upgrade the CUE system to v2.5 which adds CarPlay and Android Auto, along with much faster response times for the system as a whole

2. Had the transmission re-calibrated with a software update that modifies the performance algorithm which makes the auto trans shift faster/smoother

My only complaint with the car is that the backup cam is absolutely terrible. I don't mean somewhat bad...i mean 1970s security camera footage bad. If there is a way to swap that out with something else, I will. Other than that, I'm impressed with the performance, technology and fit/finish of the car. Also, my first service experience at the dealership was as good as any I've experience with BMW, MB and Audi. Audi was the worst of the brands by a decent margin. Hopefully my experience with Cadillac service remains positive.

Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and would encourage those of you on the cusp of the decision to eliminate any preconceived notions about American cars and the Cadillac brand you may have and give the ATS-V a shot. For the money, it's spectacular.

I'll post some pics up over the weekend after I give her a wash. The car has already been tinted.

Thanks for posting the above, you confirmed what I was already pretty positive of about that beast in general.

I really wish I didn't see this thread. I would choose the ATS-V over the M235i/M240i any day of the week. It looks like you can get the sedan for even cheaper. Unfortunately I still have 6 months left on my lease.

Just look at the gauges and it could change your mind. Straight out of a entry level car.

Sure because that's what I look for in a performance car, luxurious gauges.

Those dash guages are emblematic on GM cost cutting. Just plain cheap. At least when BMW cheaps out, its hard to tell!

True but if the gauges are the most you can fault a car for, then that's no necessarily a bad thing...

I can promise you the gauges are not something you'll even think about once when you are behind the wheel of this car. Also, that little screen in the instrument cluster above is surprisingly awesome. Super informative and very customizable.

I hope some of you jumped on the deal in August because the lease rates for September are no longer as attractive. Around $100 more per month.

Well I was in the market for an m235, but now am also considering the ats-v. OP, did you get your lease deal from a dealer in the Bay Area? If so, would you care to share which one?

There is a reason why the deal is so good, nobody wants them.

Sure do. Have 4 in the garage from 2009 onward. None of them will leave as early as three years.

I test drove an atsv coupe last week. It along with many other atsv's on the lot were discounted up to 12%. Overall I liked the look of the car in person better than I had in pictures. The interior seemed acceptable as well. Im not partial to any one brand and generally drive what I like, justed wanted to add that bit of info. Problems started as soon as I turned the key.... This example with just 14 miles on the odo seemed to have an annoying moan coming from the driveline somewhere while at idle. It was quite loud and very concerning/disturbing. Then the test drive went far worse. Massive rattling and squeaking (very loudly) coming from what seemed to be the mid section of the car. More on that later. Still trying to be fair I continued down the road. Moving along I give it about 40-50% throttle and what do I hear next? Audible detonation from under hood. I was shocked. I gave part throttle a few more times and each returned distinct audible detonation. The sales guy was an idiot and didnt know what that was. I reluctantly slammed the throttle to the floor and the car seemed very slow. Much slower than my 235. The car was also in track mode. Now clearly there was something drastically wrong with this car on multiple levels because i know this is an impressively powerful car. Back at the dealer I open the door and the sales guy points out the weather seal around the drivers door is hanging off. He figures this is what caused the rattling and loud squeaking. So it still moaned at idle, detonated at part throttle, and was very sluggish. No brand new car especially at this price point should be such a bag of shit on a test drive. Nothing could make me want this car after that experience and the dealer should be ashamed. Major turn off when a brand new car on a test drive has so many issues. Oh and he offered $28500 for my nearly loaded '14 m235 with 18k miles in pristine condition which stickered for $55k. No thanks and will never go back. Good luck to those who try the atsv. Not for me even though I wanted to like it.

That's all cars. BMWs are leased far more than purchased. 3 out 4 bmws are leased cars.
