218i Trade in
Hi everyone,
I've been driving a pre-LCI F20 118i (170hp) for almost a year. Finally F22 218i with 3 cylinder B38 engine has entered the market here. Has anyone had any experience with that engine so far? Considering it's a very new technology, what are the tuning capabilities of the 3 cylinder 1.5L engine going to be ? Last but not least, is it worth trading in or not when we take into account that they are sharing the same platform and interior design Kind regards |

My advise: when trading-in, always go for a higher specs car or you will be regretting

I understand it perfectly - but the OP has the current car for just a single year, so why trade-in at all?

Hi guys,
The main reason I'm thinking of trading in is that I have the pre-LCI F20 which has decreased in value and continue to do so due to facelift of course. I had the chance to test drive the 3 cylinder engine yesterday. the engine sounded amazing compared to 4 cylinder turbo engines, but the performance was obviously dissatisfying. I think I will pass on that it's almost impossible for me to afford M235i here in Turkey because of the taxes (the car costs twice as much as the average price in Europe - reaching 97K € with taxes) |

You are never going to stop the decrease in value and it will be a lot more on the facelift as it has a short life span of only 2-3 years. I would wait until we know if the next 1 series will be front or rear wheel drive and if it's front then buy the facelift if you really want to change.
