Back to zero defects

When I took delivery of my 228i last August, I was hoping for great build quality from the second year of production. I didn't expect perfect, but almost got that! The only defect in the entire car was a rattle somewhere behind my left shoulder/left side of my head. This past week, after an earlier try, my outstanding dealer found and fixed it! The side curtain airbag module behind the headliner just behind the driver's head position was not fully tightened in place...a tricky one to find after carefully ruling out the easier and more likely suspects. With this fix, the car is back to zero defects...an otherwise perfect car! If anyone has such an odd and hard to find shifting/clunky sound behind their head, this issue should be considered.

Great find, both in the source of the noise and in a patient dealer that will work a minor but irritating problem until it is done.

So far I'm very impressed with the build quality of my 235 - it seems a lot better built than my 2010 335 coupe was, and certainly much better than current 3 series with their flimsy dashboards.

Yes....highly recommend the Farmington Hills location....Jason is an outstanding SA. Others there may be as well, but he's the one I know. Dave is a fantastic shop foreman!!

Is this that Buzzing/slight Rattle right at the Drivers seatbelt / B Pillar area?...

I'll have to mention this at my next service...

It sounds like that, but took some analysis and trial to rule out door trim and seat belt retractor in my case. Tell your SA to contact Erhard BMW of Farmington Hills, Michigan, and talk to Dave, shop foreman, for details about our experience. He was hands-on with my car. Wonderful guy!

That's always good to hear. I'm hoping this carry over to the M2.

How many miles are you at?

Well, there you go. I posted on this thread zero defects and today I discovered my first catastrophic failure. Opened trunk and saw interior trunk light hanging by wires. Noticed a plastic tab had broken off assembly. Piece of crap car. I'm trading it for a used Yugo . Actually, if this is the worst problem I've had in a year and a half that speaks pretty highly of BMW Quality

Pretty sure I read in the past few days that the 2 series is rated very high in the latest JD Power initial quality survey. I don't see many owners here complaining about problems with their cars, and I would imagine this group would not hesitate to be very vocal if they were having problems.
