It's just a slightly less good M2 for the same price. M2 is just fine for a daily driver.
The M2 is a great car, don't get me wrong, but it could have been better. The M240i's engine is arguably better producing almost as much horsepower and more torque. I am also pretty sure that it can easily be tuned to outperform the M2's in horsepower too. When equipped with the LSD, I would not be surprised that the M240i would provide 9/10ths of the M2's performance and handling without having to live with its harder suspension. By the way many car companies can produce very compliant suspension (Porsche) without compromising handling...

Some like to drive a sleeper car, less exuberant looking car than the M2, that's why the M240i has its place in the lineup.

Strange to see closed air vents in front bumper. If i am not mistaken the 235i had openings there. Is B58 less hot than N55?
Post is on front page and attracts many non-2 series owners who just think every other BMW they don't own is shit.

It's fully digital. Even in the price list they are referring to as a FULL black panel display. More pics too...
That's not fully digital though... My 640d has a full black panel display which looks like that and the Digital Cockpit / Dash was an option.

If you look at the 4er and 5er etc, the fully digital display is referred to as 'Digital Cockpit' and not FULL Black Panel Display.

My 2003 330i ZHP (the "performance package") came with 225/255 Michelin PS tires, and had 235 BHP, a 10 BHP increase.

How in hell is this a "performance" edition if it has less grip than the 14 year old edition?

And no power bump. That's lame, sorry to say.

Yes I know it's different, but it's fully digital though as in that there are no physically moving needles. It's all rendered on a digital display.
The difference between that and the full black panel display you have in your 640d is that you have physical needles and it is backlit with white LED's/orange LED's. The new one in the 2 series is fully rendered.

Where's the M Performance interior parts!?
Surely the M Performance Edition should be equipped with it

will be interesting to see where they will put the logo on the new dash

Meh.
Would rather not pay a premium for bolt-on non-performance enhancing accessories and some 19" rims that I'd get rid of anyway because the rubber is too thin...
Plus not a huge fan of alpine white.

Just find an m2 or get a 235 if you want non-m. This is too close to the base m2 to be worth it in my opinion. BMW is filling the gap between M and non M with all these mashups.

It's a normal M240i with the very nice BMW Performance parts added.

Many on here already want and add these parts so seriously what's the issue?

If you don't like them buy a standard M240.

If you want a more focused car get the M2.

And then? Lose your crappy attitude!

The gauges in the pic are unlit and you call that full digital.

Might be full black panel but look at the gauges.

Just cause you add Ms all over the place doesn't make it an M. Need to stop diluting.

Only the right vent is closed, the rest is open, same as with the N55.

It looks so narrow from behind...wow. And then the skinny tires. I was once feeling the M235i/M240i, but then the M2 came and crushed my whole view on the regular 2 Series.

Jeebus.
At least throw in dual slat grills, quad exhaust tips and //M style mirrors to make it look somewhat special...

And make sure to pick the mirrors with the //M logo (as per below) so that everyone will know that it is "special edition" M240i M.

Based on your same argument, you could tune the the M2. Imho - BMW continues to overlap and water down the M Brand.

I'm not really sure what people are talking about the m2 suspension being too stiff. it's not that stiff. 911 is way stiffer if you don't have the 18 way seats.

BMW Canada had an almost identical 'M edition' for the '17 340i. M appearance parts and 20' wheels. It was $800 more than a fully loaded 340i so not bad if you actually wanted that stuff.
